To Improve Teachers' Digital Competence, Lecturers from Polman Negeri Babel Hold a Smart Game Learning Workshop at MIN 2 Bangka.
The Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) held a Smart Game Learning Workshop on Educational Game Development with Canva and Artificial Intelligence support at MIN 2 Bangka Regency last Thursday (November 20, 2025). This workshop was designed to strengthen teachers' competencies in facing the challenges of education in the digital era.
This program is part of the independent Community Service (PkM) program implemented by Polman Babel lecturers. All MIN 2 Bangka teachers participated in the workshop, which was opened by the Principal, Indra Cahya, S.Pd.I., M.A.P.

The PkM team consists of lecturers and students of the Software Engineering Technology Study Program, namely Laras Niti Mulyani, S.T., M.T.I., Muhammad Iqbal, S.T., M.Eng., Firdaus, S.Kom., M.Kom., Rahmat Hidayat, S.Kom., M.Kom., Weri Sirait, S.Kom., M.Kom., and Adinda Islamaya students. They guided the entire series of activities from the presentation of the material to the practice of making learning media.
In his remarks, Madrasah Principal Indra Cahya emphasized that madrasas need learning innovations that can respond to technological developments. "Teachers today and in the future must master digital technology to make learning more engaging and easier for students to understand," he said.
He added that the workshop was very beneficial for improving creativity, innovation, and the quality of learning at MIN 2 Bangka. Through the Smart Game Learning concept, teachers were introduced to an approach that combines educational games, visual design, and artificial intelligence to create interactive learning.
"The use of AI can save time creating materials, while gamification elements can increase student learning motivation, a key factor that is expected to bring about changes in teachers' learning patterns," he acknowledged.

"The activity, which took place from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. WIB (Western Indonesian Time), was divided into three sessions. In the first session, participants were introduced to the concept of Smart Game Learning and the role of AI in elementary school learning. The second session included hands-on practice using Canva AI to create visual assets such as characters, icons, game settings, and game templates using the Magic Write, Magic Design, and Magic Media features," he said.
The results of the practice demonstrated the teachers' creativity in creating mini-games in the form of quizzes, educational puzzles, and interactive materials that could be shared via links or barcodes. The final session focused on product finalization, presentations, and evaluations, including a presentation of the work of Teacher Rizqi Azizah Nur Azka, S.Pd., which received praise from participants and facilitators," he concluded.
When confirmed on Wednesday (11/26/2025), the Head of the Laras PKM Team, Niti Mulyani, emphasized that digital transformation in the world of education can no longer be postponed, with Canva AI enabling teachers to create creative learning media without having to have complex technical skills, thus opening up opportunities for new innovation at MIN 2 Bangka," she added.
With this workshop, teachers can create digital content more quickly and engagingly, while students become more engaged and understand the material taught, making MIN 2 Bangka one of the madrasas starting to integrate AI technology for creative learning.
"With reflection, evaluation, and a follow-up plan in the form of continued mentoring for teachers in developing game-based media," she added.
As a follow-up, the Community Service Program (PKM) team is preparing further mentoring for teachers to continue developing game-based media by presenting relevant educational innovations that have a broad impact on society," Laras concluded.
