Building a Safe and Violence-Free Campus: New Students at Polman Negeri Babel Attend PPKPT Briefing During Orientation
A member of the PPKPT Task Force at Polman Negeri Babel outlined the roles, functions, and mechanisms for preventing and handling violence to new students during the 2026 PPKMB event.
On the third day of the 2026 Campus Life Introduction for New Students (PPKMB) at the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic, new students received a briefing on the functions and role of the Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Violence in Higher Education (Satgas PPKPT) on Wednesday (August 6, 2026).
"The Head of the Polman Babel Satgas PPKPT, Yang Fitri Arriyani, M.T., explained that the task force is responsible for prevention, handling, support, and providing protection for the entire academic community in the event of alleged violence within the higher education environment," she stated.
In her presentation, she outlined various forms of violence that can occur on campus—ranging from physical, psychological, and sexual violence to bullying, discrimination, and other forms of violence regulated by law.
"Providing this understanding early on helps students create a campus environment that is safe, comfortable, and free from all forms of violence," she said.
"In addition to explaining the various forms of violence, new students are introduced to reporting mechanisms for instances where they experience or witness suspected acts of violence; the PPKPT Task Force provides an official complaint channel via a link accessible to the entire academic community, while strictly upholding principles of confidentiality and protection for both the reporter and the victim," he concluded.
Every report received is processed according to established procedures. Both the victim and the alleged perpetrator are summoned for a clarification and fact-finding process conducted by the PPKPT Task Force team.
"The team conducts inquiries and gathers supporting evidence before taking action in accordance with applicable regulations. This process is carried out objectively and professionally, upholding the principles of fairness for all parties involved," he explained.
He added that sanctions against perpetrators of violence are applied regardless of their status within the campus community; these measures apply not only to students but also to lecturers and educational staff if they are proven to have committed violations based on the investigation results.
Through this orientation regarding the Polman Babel PPKPT Task Force, we hope all new students understand their rights and obligations as members of the academic community, and feel empowered to report any acts amounting to violence encountered or experienced within this leading vocational higher education institution in Bangka Belitung," he stated.
