Having Passed LSP Competency Certification, TRPL Students at Polman Negeri Babel Encouraged to Become Mobile App Developers

Competency Assessor Ahmat Josi, M.Kom., with students from the TRPL program at the Bangka Belitung State Polytechnic (Polman Negeri Babel) who successfully completed the assessment for the Junior Mobile Programmer (Associate Mobile) occupational certification scheme.

After completing their theoretical and practical coursework, students from the Applied Bachelor’s Program in Software Engineering Technology (TRPL) at the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic participated in a competency certification conducted by the Professional Certification Institute (LSP). The event took place on the third floor of the Joint Lecture Building (GKB) on Wednesday (August 12, 2026).

A total of 23 TRPL students took the competency test—designed to assess the skills acquired during their four-year education—under the evaluation of competency assessors Ahmat Josi, M.Kom., and Riki Afriansyah, M.T.

When interviewed on Thursday (August 13, 2026), Competency Assessor Ahmat Josi, M.Kom., reported that all TRPL students were deemed competent. He expressed hope that this experience and demonstrated competence would benefit the students, whether in securing employment or pursuing entrepreneurship in the field of mobile application development.

Josi explained that the competency testing process revealed a diverse range of abilities and skill outcomes, with students eagerly showcasing their respective capabilities. "Each student possesses unique skills, which was evident in the specific features they developed," he noted.

Furthermore, achieving a "competent" status through certification should not be a reason for students to stop improving their abilities. On the contrary, these skills need to be continuously honed as the students move forward into corporate employment or independent entrepreneurship.

"Students who have been certified as competent should not become complacent. You must continue to refine your skills sustainably to achieve the best possible results," he added.

He went on to encourage TRPL graduates not merely to focus on job-seeking, but to have the courage to create employment opportunities using the skills they have acquired. Ideally, graduates should leverage the competencies they have gained to do so," he added.

" Equally important is the courage and self-confidence students must possess; the competency certification they have earned should serve as an asset for demonstrating their abilities when entering the professional world," he stated.

Offering a different perspective, Assessor Riki Afriansyah, M.T., noted that the value of competency certification is not the sole measure of a student's success. "What matters more is the expertise gained during their studies; certification is not the ultimate benchmark—rather, the skills acquired must be effectively applied in the workplace after graduation," he said.

He advised all TRPL students who have undergone certification not to stop learning. "You must keep pace with rapid technological advancements by updating your knowledge and honing your skills to remain relevant in the digital era," Riki emphasized.
