Ahead of Graduation, 150 Polman Negeri Babel Students Go Beyond Diplomas by Pursuing LSP Competency Certification
While awaiting graduation, the Professional Certification Institute (LSP) of the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Negeri Babel) is conducting a two-day competency certification program for students on August 11–12, 2026.
Held on the Polman Negeri Babel campus, the event is attended by approximately 150 students from various study programs, including Diploma III Electronics, Diploma III Machine Maintenance and Repair, Diploma III Mechanical Design, Diploma IV Electronics, Diploma IV Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, Diploma IV Manufacturing Design Engineering Technology, and Diploma IV Software Engineering Technology.
Adhi Budiono, S.ST, Executive Director of LSP Polman Babel, explained that the competency certification is carried out through various schemes tailored to the students' fields of expertise, serving to assess their capabilities prior to the completion of their studies.

For Electrical students specializing in Electrical Power Utilization Installation, there are certification schemes for 'Non-PLC Automation Electrical Installation' and 'PLC-based Automation Electrical Installation' clusters," he noted.
Meanwhile, the metal and machinery sector offers certification schemes covering clusters such as 3D Drafting using CAD Systems, Mechanical Design using 3D CAD Systems, Machinery and Equipment Maintenance, Basic NC-CNC Machine Programming, Complex Lathe Operation, and Complex Milling Machine Operation.
"In fact, within the metal goods manufacturing sector, there are SMAW (MMAW) Welding Occupation Certification Schemes—Level I and Level II—while in the informatics sector, students can participate in the Junior Mobile Programmer (Associate Mobile) Certification Scheme," he said.

Furthermore, competency certification provides added value for students when applying for jobs; beyond simply obtaining a diploma upon graduation, the certification schemes are aligned with the competencies and areas of expertise students have studied during their academic program.
"The certification process serves as a means to measure the level of competence students have achieved during their studies, with assessments conducted through both theory and practical exams tailored to the specific certification scheme being pursued," he concluded.

It is worth noting that competency certification is provided free of charge to Polman Babel students, whereas external participants seeking certification are charged a fee in accordance with applicable regulations," he emphasized.
