Not Only Tech-Savvy, Polman Negeri Babel Students Memorize 25 Juz of the Quran and Receive Scholarships
Applied Software Engineering Technology (TRPL) students from the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) have successfully passed the selection process for the 25 Juz Quran Memorization Scholarship program, organized by the Bangka Belitung Islands Provincial Government through the People's Welfare Bureau (Kesra) at the BPSDM Office on September 24-25, 2025.
This scholarship program is a form of appreciation and support from the local government for young people who have the ability to memorize the Quran and remain active in academic and organizational activities.
One of the Polman Babel students who successfully passed is Afghan Almufqi Yournawan, a seventh-semester TRPL student. When met on the Polman Babel campus on Tuesday (October 7, 2025), he shared his experience in applying for this scholarship selection. He has long had a talent for memorizing the Quran. Prior to studying at Polman Babel, he studied for four years at the Riyadhusshalihin Islamic Boarding School in Pandeglang, Banten. "I want to maintain my memorization and expand my knowledge even though I'm currently studying technology," he said.
He added that the requirements for this scholarship program are relatively simple. All you need is a letter of authorization from your university, identification, and proof of active student activity. The scholarship quota is also limited to 15 participants, with the primary assessment being memorization ability and reading fluency," he explained.
During the selection process, participants were given the opportunity to choose the Juz (chapters) they had mastered most to be tested. Afghan himself chose several Juz (chapters) he considered most fluent, from Juz 1 to Juz 15.
"Thank God, I passed the selection and will continue to strive to perfect my memorization of 25 Juz," he said.
Afghan hopes that his success will encourage other students at Polman Babel to not hesitate to develop their potential, both academically and religiously. "If you have the ability, don't be shy to show it. Every potential has an opportunity, including through scholarships like this," he advised.
Separately, Linda Fujiyanti, M.T.I., a supervisor from the TRPL Study Program, expressed her deep appreciation for Afghan's efforts and perseverance in memorizing the Qur'an, reaching 25 Juz (chapters). "With extraordinary enthusiasm and patience, he upholds the word of Allah," she said.
Furthermore, he noted that his memorization is excellent, and his tartil recitation and tajweed are well-organized. "Hopefully, this achievement will be a continuous charity and motivation for other friends to continue to love and study the Qur'an," he said.
Not only that, but also maintain your memorization by regularly practicing muraja'ah (repetition) to strengthen your memorization and ensure you don't forget it easily. Also, increase your tadabbur (contemplation) so that you don't just memorize the words, but also understand and apply the contents of the Quran in your daily lives.
"God willing, this will increase your memorization and bring benefits to yourself and those around you," she hoped.
In fact, "This is a real example of a student who is able to balance knowledge and religious values. Hopefully, achievements like this can continue to grow and inspire other students," Linda said.
