Not Yet an Intern, But Already Ready, Polman Negeri Babel Holds Socialization for 175 Students
To prepare students for their internship program, the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) held a socialization event in the Campus Hall on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.
Approximately 175 students from the Applied Bachelor's or Diploma IV study programs who will be undertaking internships in February 2026 participated in this event. Through this socialization, students were provided with important information to prepare early, including identifying companies that align with their competencies.
Acting as the main speaker, Harwadi, S.S.T., M.Ed., Head of the Academic Support Unit for Career Development and Entrepreneurship at Polman Babel, provided a detailed explanation of the requirements and stages of the internship. In his presentation, students were divided into two clusters based on company category. "Cluster 1 includes state-owned, international, and multinational companies with a certain minimum GPA, no warning letters during their studies, and a completed final project," he said.
Meanwhile, Cluster 2 is for students who are interning at local companies, startups, or CVs, with the goal of matching each student's readiness and potential to the diverse needs of the industry," he continued.
He explained that internships are not only an academic obligation but also an important means to apply and develop the knowledge they have learned during their studies.
"Students need to internalize a professional attitude and work culture appropriate to the business and industrial world," he explained.
Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of providing internships to students, providing them with the opportunity to become familiar with the work environment. This will equip them with hands-on experience in the field after graduation, which will be an added value in facing the challenges of a quality workforce."
In addition to the presentation of material, this activity also provided an opportunity for an interactive question and answer session between students and the university. "Many students actively participated in asking questions about the company's selection process, assessment system, and tips for internship interviews," he explained.
This socialization can motivate students to be better prepared for the industrial world. With thorough preparation, they can adapt quickly and demonstrate their best performance during their internship," he continued.
Closing the activity, Harwadi advised all students to always uphold the good name of Polman Babel. "Wherever you intern, demonstrate ethics, responsibility, and professionalism as a reflection of students," he concluded.
