Lecturers at the Babel State Polytechnic University (Polman Negeri Babel) collaborate with Resam artisans to develop local products in Dendang Village.
The Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) has been entrusted by the Directorate General of Research and Development, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, to implement a community-based Community Service (PkM) program in 2025. This program collaborates with the Mulkiah Dendang Resam Craftsmen Group in Dendang Village, West Bangka Regency.
The activity focuses on two main aspects: production and marketing. The goal is to encourage community empowerment by improving the quality of resam products while expanding market access so that this Bangka Belitung specialty can compete more widely.
The Polman Babel teaching team involved in this activity includes Nur Khasanah, S.P., M.Si., Linda Fujiyanti, S.T., M.T.I., and Mahmudin, S.P., M.Si. The program also involves students Muhammad Khoirul Arifin, Bayu Safyndra, and Arin Sapitri.
When confirmed, Monday (06/10/2025) the team leader, Nur Khasanah, S.P., M.Si., explained that the activities carried out included socialization, product innovation training, installation of road signs to the resam craft center, installation of neon boxes, and handing over assistance in the form of sewing machines, hang tags, and paper bags as promotional media and product branding," he said.
"In fact, this program aims to improve the quality of resam crafts, strengthen the empowerment of artisan groups, and assist artisans with promotion and marketing to make their products more widely known," he explained.

He added that universities have a responsibility to contribute to supporting the surrounding community. Polman Babel wants resam artisans to not only produce quality products but also be competitive in the wider market.
"Resam crafts have the potential to become Bangka Belitung's leading product. With good quality and the right marketing strategy, this product can have a positive economic impact on the community," he said.
Furthermore, Nur Khasanah stated that this program aims to increase product innovation to make them more competitive, empower artisan groups through ongoing training, strengthen the image of resam as a local identity, and open market access through modern promotional strategies," she added.
With this, one of the resam artisans, Ms. Mulkiah, expressed her gratitude for the attention and support provided by Polman Babel, which provided training and promotional tools, which have given her group more confidence in developing their business.
"Hopefully, in the future, our products will become more widely known and can penetrate regional and even national markets. With support like this, we are confident that resam crafts can continue to develop," he said.
Furthermore, it not only benefits the artisan group but also impacts the Dendang Village community as a whole. Increasing the competitiveness of resam products in local and regional markets is believed to strengthen cultural identity and provide significant economic value to Bangka Belitung," he concluded.
