Babel State Polman Presents Appropriate Technology Solutions for Typical Belinyu Souvenir Businesses
Lecturers at the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) carried out community service activities with their partner Mrs. Komariah, a local business actor, on Jl. Peace No. 202, Kuto Panji, Belinyu District, Bangka, Bangka Belitung Islands. On Monday (4/11/2024), they introduced a Dough Mixing Machine to help increase the productivity of processed sea fish as regional souvenirs.
This program carries the theme PkM Increasing Production of Processed Sea Fish Products as Typical Souvenirs for the Belinyu Community, Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands by Utilizing Appropriate Technology Machines.
This machine is specifically designed to support small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in processing sea fish more efficiently.
This activity was spearheaded by a number of expert lecturers from Polman Babel, including Husman, M.T., M. Subhan, M.T., Yuliyanto, M.T., Eko Yudo, M.T., Masdani, M.T., Yudi Oktriadi, M.Eng., Zaldy Kurniawan, M.T., Rodika , M.T., and Riki Afriansyah, M.T. They combine their expertise to deliver innovative solutions that have a direct impact on community business development.
Not only lecturers, Polman Babel students also took part in this project. Mustaqin from the Machinery Maintenance and Repair Study Program, as well as M. Rizky Aulia and Renaldi from the Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing Study Program were involved in the assembly and final finishing of the machine at the Polman Babel Mechanical Workshop. They gain direct experience in making appropriate technology that benefits society.
This Dough Mixer Machine has a production capacity of up to 5 kilograms in one process. This machine is designed to process the mixture of raw materials for processed fish products, such as fish sticks, fish brittle, fish crackers, squid chips and fish kemplang. With a large capacity and easy-to-use design, this machine is expected to speed up production and improve product quality.
The head of this service, Husman, M.T., said that the main aim of this program is to have a real impact on local business actors. "We hope that this machine can help Mrs. Komariah and other MSMEs in producing typical Belinyu souvenirs more efficiently, so that they can meet increasing market demand," explained Husman when met.
Husman added that this machine was developed through a series of research to ensure that the design suited the needs of small entrepreneurs in the region.
"We carried out several tests to ensure this machine is durable and easy for users to operate without requiring a lot of maintenance," he added.
Mrs. Komariah, as a partner of this program, also expressed her appreciation for Polman Babel's contribution. He felt helped by this mixing machine.
"In the past, the process of mixing the dough took quite a lot of time and effort. With this machine, production is faster and the results are more consistent," said Komariah.
Komariah hopes that the collaboration with Polman Babel will continue, so that more MSMEs in Belinyu can experience the benefits of appropriate technology.
"I hope that Polman Babel can continue to accompany us, especially in terms of training on machine maintenance and improving the quality of processed products," he said hopefully.
