Pre-Orientation (PPKMB) at State Polytechnic of Bangka Belitung: New Students Participate with Enthusiasm, Orderliness, and Discipline
High enthusiasm was evident among the hundreds of new students at the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) who were admitted through the National Student Admission Selection (SNPMB) pathways—specifically the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP), the National Selection Based on Tests (SNBT), and the Independent Admission pathway.
From the morning onwards, new students began arriving on campus to participate in the Pre-Orientation for New Students (Pra PPKMB) event, which was centered in the campus hall on Thursday (June 30, 2026).
On-site observations showed approximately 750 new students lining up in an orderly fashion in the campus courtyard. They followed various directions and instructions provided by the organizing committee from the Polman Babel Student Executive Board (BEM).
Somawardi, M.T., the Head of the Academic, Student Affairs, and Cooperation Division at Polman Babel, stated that the Pra PPKMB is an annual event designed to prepare new students for the main PPKMB orientation program, which is scheduled to take place from August 3 to August 6, 2026.

Somawardi noted that the Pra PPKMB serves as an opportunity for new students to familiarize themselves with the campus environment and gain insight into academic life at Polman Babel. It also introduces them to the academic regulations, disciplinary standards, and code of conduct that will govern their lives throughout their studies.
"In addition to receiving information, new students participate in various educational activities designed to be engaging, helping them adapt to the campus environment while fostering a sense of togetherness and solidarity among the student body," he stated.
He went on to advise all new students not to squander the opportunity for higher education. He emphasized that their time at university should be utilized to the fullest to develop skills and pursue their aspirations, warning that even the slightest disregard for how they spend their time during their studies would result in a significant loss, as time once gone never returns.

Furthermore, the orientation program (PPKMB) is nothing for new students to fear; rather, it serves as a platform for learning together, building camaraderie, and strengthening solidarity among students as members of the extended Polman Babel family," he remarked.
He further explained that the orientation program does not rely on violence but instead aims to shape the students' mindset and character, preparing them for their academic journey. "It serves as an initial phase to help you adapt and avoid feeling overwhelmed when participating in subsequent activities," he added.
"Welcome to Polman Babel, the premier vocational campus in Bangka Belitung, and enjoy the pre-orientation program. Following this, you will participate in the main orientation program, where you will undoubtedly gain unique experiences and memories—both highs and lows. Embrace it all with dedication and keep your spirits high until you achieve success," Somawardi concluded.
