At the start of their studies, students of the Digital Business Study Program at Polman Negeri Babel immediately began studying capital markets.
The first day of classes was a unique experience for the first-year students of the Applied Digital Business Bachelor's Program at the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel). They immediately participated in the Capital Market School held by the Sharia Investment Gallery (GIS) of the Polman Babel Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in the campus hall on Tuesday (August 19, 2025).
This activity served as the students' first step in exploring the world of capital markets, business, and finance, which are closely related to investment products. From the beginning, they were introduced to the concept of wise asset management for future benefits.
The Head of the IDX Bangka Belitung Representative Office, Fahmi Alkahfi, S.Si., served as the main speaker. He explained that the capital market is a platform for various long-term financial instruments with tenors of more than one year, such as stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and derivative instruments.
"The capital market is not only a funding source for companies and governments, but also an investment vehicle for the public to manage their assets for growth and long-term returns," he explained.
Fahmi also explained several advantages of investing, from maintaining asset value, gaining access to up-to-date information, to ensuring the security of funds with investment instrument options that can be tailored to each individual's needs and financial goals," he explained.
Furthermore, he emphasized the important role of the capital market in supporting national economic growth. "With the capital market, long-term funding needs from both the private and government sectors can be met more effectively," he concluded.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Setya Pratama, M.Si., Advisor to the Polman Babel Sharia Investment Gallery, assessed that this activity is very appropriate for students starting their education.
"An understanding of the capital market needs to be introduced early on so that students have broader financial insight," he explained.
Setya added that this program aligns with the university's goal of preparing students who not only excel academically but also possess sound financial literacy.
"By understanding the capital market, students can be better prepared to face the economic challenges of the digital age," he said.
He hopes that after this activity, students will be able to view investing as part of future planning, not simply an activity seeking quick profits. "With this understanding, they are expected to become a generation that is smart in managing finances," Setya emphasized.
