Encouraging Intruder Tourism to Go Digital, Babel State Polman Trains Managers to Use Websites for Promotion
Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) plays an active role in supporting community development through the Community Service (PkM) program. This time, the Polman Babel lecturer team carried out PkM activities at Penyusuk Beach, Romodong Indah Village, Belinyu District, Saturday (31/08/2024) several months ago.
This program carries the theme "Technical Guidance on Using Websites to Strengthen Penyusuk Beach Ecotourism Based on 21st Century Digital Marketing," aiming to increase tourist attraction through digital technology.
The lecturer team involved in this activity consisted of Indah Riezky Pratiwi, M.Pd, Novitasari, M.Pd, Elisa Mayang Sari, M.Pd, Muhammad Setya Pratama, M.Si, and Dewi Tumatul Ainin, M.Si.
They carry a mission to provide education and training to local ecotourism managers so they can maximize digital marketing potential through website platforms.
In this activity, 19 participants who were the administrators of the Penyusuk Community Forest (HkM) took part. Not only that, two students from the TRPL study program, namely Naza Hardiansyah and Jimmi Rianto, also contributed in assisting the HkM administrators in learning how to use the website.
When met in his room, Thursday (24/10/2024) the team leader, Indah Riezky Pratiwi, M.Pd, explained that this activity was focused on developing ecotourism based on local wisdom and creative economy, which is in line with the vision of sustainable development in the region.
"We hope that with this training, our partners can take big steps in realizing long-term work plans related to ecotourism," said Indah.
Penyusuk Ecotourism does have great potential, but its management still requires more attention, especially in terms of promotion and marketing. "The partners' long-term work plan for the next 10 years includes the development of more integrated ecotourism, and this PkM program is expected to be the first step towards achieving this goal," he said.
Warzuqni Pane, as secretary of the HkM Pengusuk management, expressed his deep gratitude to the Polman Babel lecturer team. "We are very grateful and grateful for the help from the lecturers. The website that has been developed will certainly be a very valuable tool for our promotion," he said.
Previously, HkM managers only relied on social media such as Instagram and Facebook for promotion. With this new website, they hope to reach more tourists, both local and international, and increase visits to Penyusuk Beach.
"We hope that this website can be maximized to increase visitor interest so that they always come to Penyusuk," added Warzuqni Pane.
Apart from that, he also mentioned that the digitalization of this promotion really supports their efforts to preserve the environment and empower local communities through ecotourism.
With this training, it is hoped that HkM managers will be able to utilize digital technology to support the growth of Penyusuk Beach ecotourism. This step is in line with global trends which emphasize the importance of digitalization in the tourism sector and creative economy, especially in the era of internet-based marketing.
"The Pkm Polman Babel activities at Penyusuk Beach are a clear example of how universities can contribute directly to community development through science and technology," he said.
