The Excitement of Camping and the Ant Operation of the Mahacita Polman Negeri Babel UKM at Rebo Beach
Students from the Mahacita Student Activity Unit (UKM) of the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) once again demonstrated their environmental stewardship. Over two days, September 21–22, 2025, they held a cleanup of Rebo Beach with local residents.
The activity began with a camping trip along the beach. The evening's atmosphere of camaraderie continued until Sunday morning, when hundreds of trash bags were filled during the "Ant Operation," or the collection of inorganic waste along the shoreline of Rebo Beach.
A total of 53 students participated in the activity. They included freshmen and seniors of the Mahacita Student Activity Unit, along with advisors and 12 enthusiastic residents. The collaboration between students and the community ensured a warm and harmonious atmosphere.

Pristiansyah, M.Eng., advisor of the Mahacita Student Activity Unit at Polman Babel, expressed his appreciation for the students' enthusiasm for the fieldwork on Friday (September 26, 2025). "The main objective of this activity is to preserve unmanaged beaches, while also exploring the potential for economic growth through tourism," he explained.
He added that small actions like picking up trash can be a concrete step in building collective awareness and increasing awareness of the importance of environmental protection, not only on the beach but also in everyday life.
"With the spirit of mutual cooperation, the Mahacita Polman Babel Student Activity Unit (UKM Mahacita) is able to play a vital role in preserving the environment, and this beach cleanup is a reminder to love nature, not just a slogan, but a concrete action," he emphasized.
On a separate occasion, the Head of the Mahacita Student Activity Unit, Reynaldo Desky Anjaya, stated that this activity doesn't stop there. He plans to hold another beach cleanup at a different location, and it will also become an annual agenda item for the Mahacita Student Activity Unit," he said.
According to Reynaldo, this activity also serves as a forum for strengthening bonds among Mahacita Student Activity Unit members. Both new and senior students have no boundaries; they must work together and support each other, and that is what strengthens their togetherness," he said.
Beyond focusing on beach cleanups, this activity also instills values of social awareness among students, especially for nature and the community.
"Because through direct interaction with residents, students learn how working together can bring real benefits to the community," he said.
With the spirit of togetherness between students and the community, we hope this beach cleanup activity will continue and have a positive impact, so that Rebo Beach maintains its beauty and becomes even more worthy of being a leading tourist destination and a source of pride for Bangka Belitung," he concluded.
