Not Only PPKMB, New Students at Polman Negeri Babel Receive Legal Counseling from the Prosecutor
A different atmosphere was felt at the Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) at the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) on Thursday (August 7, 2025). Hundreds of new students received legal insights directly from the Sungailiat District Attorney's Office under the "Jakarta Enters Campus" program.
The event, held in the campus hall, featured Novian Ardynata Setya, a representative from the Sungailiat District Attorney's Office. He provided legal counseling aimed at fostering legal awareness from an early age among the younger generation, particularly new students.
In his presentation, Novian emphasized the importance of students' role as agents of change who excel not only academically but also are aware and obey the law. He presented various examples of legal cases involving students, such as the misuse of social media and the spread of hoaxes.
"Students are part of an intellectual community. Therefore, it's important for you to understand the boundaries of the law, especially in today's digital age," he explained.
He also explained the various roles of prosecutors in society, from prosecution to assistance in legal education activities.
"We're not only present in the courtroom, but also in the community, including on campuses like this," he added.
One of the new students, Nayla Azzahra from the Diploma III Electronics Study Program, said she was very impressed with the counseling. The material was delivered in a light manner yet opened up new insights.
"At first, I thought the legal activities would be boring, but it turned out to be fun and insightful. I now understand more about how the law works and how we as students can get caught up in it if we're not careful," she said.
Interestingly, Novian also encouraged students to actively ask questions and engage in discussions. Several students who submitted questions even received attractive prizes as a token of appreciation.
"I'm happy that my questions were appreciated with prizes. But more importantly, it has given me the courage to ask questions and discuss legal matters, something I'd previously avoided," Nayla said.
