Polman Negeri Babel Appears on TVRI's Inspiration Window, with Lecturers and Students as Key Speakers
Students from the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) once again captured public attention on Thursday (November 27, 2025), appearing as speakers on the "Window of Inspiration" program on TVRI's Bangka Belitung station. This appearance marked the increasing active participation of Polman Babel students in sharing ideas and insights with the wider community.
The student, Muhammad Khoirul Arifin, attended with his supervisor, Mahmudin, M.Si. During the session, the two discussed the importance of increasing student participation in competitions as a means of self-development.
When contacted, Mahmudin explained that the visit to TVRI through the "Window of Inspiration" program provided a broad platform for universities to share good practices in building student competencies and provide a platform for universities to showcase what they have done to support the development of student potential.
In this regard, competition isn't solely about winning or losing. More than that, competition is an important tool in shaping students' character. Through competition, students can learn to cultivate courage, sharpen their mental fortitude, and enhance skills that will be highly relevant in the workplace.
"Because competition is a place for students to train themselves to perform, innovate, and test their abilities directly in front of an audience," he added.
Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of strengthening soft skills, which are the primary foundation for students to compete. "Communication, teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills need to be continuously honed so that students are ready to enter the industry," he added.
As a form of this, soft skills are not only acquired through classroom learning, but also through real-life experiences such as competitions, projects, and collaborative activities. These provide space for students to experience a more comprehensive learning process," he said.
"This means that students need to understand that failure is part of the learning process and should be viewed as an opportunity for growth, not a stressor," he concluded.
