Goes to Campus, Polman Negeri Babel Becomes the Main Destination for Students of SMK Negeri 1 Tempilang
The Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) was once again the destination for a school visit as part of the Goes To Campus program on Tuesday (December 9, 2025). The auditorium was immediately packed with students from SMK Negeri 1 Tempilang who arrived around noon.
The visit was attended by 109 12th-grade students from three majors: Motorcycle Engineering, Accounting, and Visual Communication Design. They were accompanied by 31 teachers who participated in a series of campus introduction activities.
In his remarks, Somawardi, M.T., Head of Academic, Student Affairs, and Cooperation at Polman Babel, explained Polman Babel's rapid development over time, recounting that the campus once had only two study programs: Electronics and Mechanical Engineering. Now, Polman Babel has expanded to three majors with a total of nine study programs.
Somawardi stated that studying at Polman Babel is open to anyone, including high school graduates majoring in non-science and non-engineering.
"There's no need to be afraid. At Polman Babel, everything is learned from the basics. So, it's impossible not to attend college if you have the will," he explained.
In fact, prospective students can choose the SNBP (National Selection for National Education), SNBT (National Selection for National Education), or the Independent Entrance Pathway as a last resort if you want to prepare yourself and don't hesitate to enroll at Polman Babel," he said.

Meanwhile, the Principal of SMK Negeri 1 Tempilang, Pamuji Waskito Raharjo, S.Pd., M.Pd.Si., stated that during the visit, he observed that most graduates from SMK Negeri 1 Tempilang face difficult challenges in continuing their studies, not due to lifestyle, but rather because of the community's economic condition, which is heavily dependent on agricultural products such as palm oil and tin.
Pamuji explained that through this "Goes to Campus" activity, students are expected to gain a clearer picture of the world of college, encouraging them to pursue higher education.
"Students from three majors at SMK Negeri 1 Tempilang are able to graduate and continue their education at Polman Babel, considering that the state university offers more affordable tuition fees and is managed by the government," he concluded.

To conclude the event, both parties exchanged souvenirs as a symbol of friendship and cooperation. Following the session, the group of students was taken on a campus tour to see firsthand the lecture and laboratory facilities at Polman Babel.
