Babel State Polman Students are Encouraged to Actively Succeed in the 2024 Regional Election
Hundreds of Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) students attended a socialization seminar entitled "Goes To Campus - Young People Who Succeed in the Regional Election" on Wednesday (11/09/2024).
This event, which was initiated by the General Election Commission (KPU) of Bangka Regency, aims to increase awareness of the younger generation, especially students, in actively participating in the 2024 Pilkada.
The seminar, which took place in the campus hall, presented speakers from the KPU, the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu), as well as academics who are experts in the fields of politics and democracy.
The students seemed enthusiastic about exploring their strategic role in maintaining the sustainability of democracy.
Chairman of the Bangka Belitung KPU, Sinarto, emphasized the importance of the participation of the younger generation in creating a democracy with integrity.
"Active participation of young voters is very necessary to build a healthy democracy. Students are agents of change in society," emphasized Sinarto in his speech.
One of the presenters, Somawardi, M.T., lecturer at Polman Babel, discussed various challenges in increasing the involvement of young voters.
“There are still many young people who feel politics is irrelevant to their daily lives. "This seminar aims to change that perception, so that they realize the importance of every voice in determining the future," he said.
According to Somawardi, politics is not just about choosing leaders, but also fighting for common interests. By being actively involved, students can become drivers of positive change in society.
"We hope that this activity can generate innovative ideas to make the 2024 regional elections a success," he added.
Hairul, one of the seminar participants, admitted that he better understood the important role of young people in elections. “I realized how influential our voices are. "This activity opened my eyes that the participation of the younger generation can be very decisive," said Hairul enthusiastically.
