Babel State Polman Digital Business Students, Ready to Become Smart Investors with the Capital Markets School

Students of the Digital Business Study Program at the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) enthusiastically took part in Capital Markets School activities organized by the Polman Babel Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) Sharia Investment Gallery (GIS) on Monday (02/09/2024).
This event is designed to provide students with in-depth insight into the world of investment, especially in the context of the capital market.
Muhammad Setya Pratama, M.Sc., as Supervisor of the Polman Babel Sharia Investment Gallery, said that this socialization activity aims to help students plan their finances better.
"Through this activity, students can understand the importance of smart and safe investments and be able to avoid the traps of fraudulent investments and detrimental online loans," he said.
He also added, "We want to equip students with the skills needed to become smart investors. Not only theory, but also direct practice that is relevant to current market conditions." he added.
This activity not only provides theoretical knowledge, but is also equipped with direct practice which makes it easier for students to choose the type of investment that suits their risk profile.
Participants were given the opportunity to explore various investment instruments available in the capital market, ranging from shares, bonds, to mutual funds. "That way, students can immediately apply the knowledge they have gained in real simulations," he explained.
Apart from increasing financial literacy, this activity is also expected to strengthen the image and competitiveness of Polman Babel as a higher education institution that cares about students' financial future.
Muhammad Setya Pratama added, "We hope that activities like this can become a routine agenda participated in by the entire Polman Babel academic community," he said.
Fahmi Alkahfi, Head of the Bangka Belitung Indonesia Stock Exchange Representative Office, was also present at the event and emphasized the importance of preventing fraudulent investments among students, lecturers and the general public.
"Awareness of the importance of choosing safe investments needs to be instilled from an early age, so that people are not easily trapped in high-risk investments," said Fahmi.
Fahmi explained that since 2020, Polman Babel and BEI have collaborated through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to educate the public about capital markets and safe investments.
"This collaboration includes ongoing training involving capital market practitioners and will continue for the next year with a duration of two hours per session," he added.
He also said, "With this collaboration, we hope to instill a deeper understanding of the world of capital markets among all participants, so that they can make better and wiser investment decisions." he said.
In addition, the involvement of practitioners in this activity provides a real perspective on the dynamics of the capital market. Students not only learn theory, but also hear firsthand experiences and strategies from experts who are experienced in the field. This is expected to motivate students to be more serious about studying and developing their abilities in the investment field.
Student enthusiasm was clearly visible from the various questions asked during the question and answer session. They seemed very enthusiastic about understanding more deeply the opportunities and challenges that exist in the capital markets.
"Many students want to know more about how to start investing and how to avoid unnecessary risks," he said.
This Capital Markets School activity is also a platform to encourage the growth of the young investor community in Polman Babel. With adequate knowledge, students are expected to be agents of change in society in educating them about the importance of smart and safe investments.
