Students from the State Polytechnic of Babel Undergo Competency Tests for Professional Certification in Complex Milling Machines
The Competency and Professional Certification program for students at the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) not only focused on theory testing but also involved hands-on practical tests for each scheme. The practical tests took place on Thursday (August 14, 2025) at various campus facilities.
Seen in the Mechanical Workshop Building, a student from the Diploma IV Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering Study Program was taking a test on a complex milling machine operating scheme. The test was guided by an assessor from Polman Babel, Masdani, M.T., and his colleague, Juanda, M.T.
Masdani explained that this certification requires students to meet established competency standards and must be competent according to the applicable standard scores, depending on the test scheme.
Furthermore, if students do not meet the required standards, their certification may be delayed, as this certification is not merely a formality but also serves as proof of the student's competence.

This highlights the importance of preparation before facing the competency test. According to him, students need to understand theoretical material, master practical skills, and maintain accuracy when working in the field.
"It's not uncommon for students who rush or aren't thorough to miss important points during exams. Yet, details are crucial to the final outcome," he said.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Farhansyah Putra, a Diploma IV student in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, admitted that he participated in the practical exam with full dedication. For him, this certification was an opportunity to assess his abilities and gain experience.
"Before the exam, I prepared myself by studying theory and practicing in the workshop. I wanted the best possible results," he said.
Furthermore, although he felt nervous at first, the support of his lecturers and friends boosted his confidence. "When you're directly involved in the field, you better understand which mistakes to avoid," he hoped.
