FGD on Empowering the Karya Mandiri Waste Bank Village Community through Waste Bank Education and Implementation of IoT-Based Management Systems
The community service team from the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with Karya Mandiri Waste Bank partners in Karya Makmur Village, Sungailiat. Sunday (29/06/2025)
The activity, which was carried out in last-June 2025, is part of a community empowerment program that was designed collaboratively to run effectively and on target.
Karya Mandiri Waste Bank has actually been operating for a long time, but unfortunately many people around it still do not know about its existence. One of the main causes is the lack of education and a management system that is still manual and not digital-based.

Seeing this condition, the Team Leader, Riki Afriansyah, explained that his party is here to provide concrete solutions through traditional and digital approaches. The focus is on building an Internet of Things (IoT)-based management system that can help the waste management process become more efficient and transparent.
"Our goal is to help Karya Mandiri Waste Bank partners through education that includes traditional and digital approaches, as well as developing an IoT-based management system," he added.
The program itself carries the title of Empowering the Karya Mandiri Waste Bank Village Community through Waste Bank Education and Implementation of IoT-Based Management Systems, and is supported by funding from the Directorate of Research and Community Service, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia," he said.
"Community participation in the FGD activities was quite enthusiastic. Residents were seen actively discussing, conveying the obstacles they had faced so far, and at the same time welcoming the idea of developing digital-based technology in the field of waste management," said Riki.
Lili, the manager of the Karya Mandiri Waste Bank, expressed her gratitude to the team from Polman Babel. She considered this program to be the right step needed by village communities in facing the current digital era.
"In the digital era like today, information and digital systems are very important for easy access and management. We are very grateful to the team from Polman Babel who care about our problems," she said.
Lili hopes that the activities designed by this community service team will not only be ceremonial, but can really be implemented and bring real benefits to the Karya Makmur community," said Lili.
