Service of Mechanical Engineering Lecturers with Students, Educating the Use of Waterjet Thruster Machines in Kotawaringin Village
Polman Babel - Lecturers from the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) and students have launched various products resulting from 3D Printing research for community service, including waterjet thruster powered boats.
The students involved in this lecturer service consisted of Marcellino, Mario Oktavianto, Ahlan Maulidansyah, Thala Viniolita, Wassi Ahadiyatullah.
This machine product is part of Polman Babel's efforts to support innovation and technology that is beneficial to society.
In this case, various innovative machines from different technologies were exhibited, showing commitment to applying the results of lecturers' service to real life to provide practical solutions for society's needs.

As a Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Hasidansah., M.Eng. explained that the waterjet engine being developed has advantages in fuel efficiency and operational speed. "This engine is designed to minimize water resistance and increase thrust, so it is very suitable for use on boats in remote water areas," he added.
"It is hoped that this technology can provide a more reliable and cost-effective transportation alternative for the community," he concluded.

Meanwhile, Applied Bachelor of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering (TMM) student, Mario, said that involvement in the final project program which involved service provided valuable practical experience and the opportunity to work together with experts in their field.
"By being involved in making Waterjet thruster boat engines, they can apply the theory learned in class into real practice, while contributing to technological progress in the fishing sector," he added.
Meanwhile, Kotawaringin Village residents stated that this technology was very helpful in speeding up travel time on the water. "They feel that this waterjet thruster engine is more efficient than traditional engines, because it not only increases speed but is also more fuel efficient," he said.
"Apart from that, he also appreciated that this machine is easy to operate and provides a safer and more comfortable navigation experience," he said.
