The Polman Babel BSKM Team Trains Karya Makmur Village Waste Bank Administrators to Use IoT and AI
Efforts to digitize waste management at the village level continue to progress. This is evident in the mentoring and implementation of Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology by the Karya Mandiri Waste Bank (BSKM) Team at the Karyamandiri Waste Bank in Karya Makmur Village on Thursday (November 20, 2025). This activity is a continuation of the waste bank system modernization program that began at the beginning of the month.
The BSKM team consists of Riki Afriansyah, M.T., Setya Pratama, M.Sc., Ocsirendi, M.Tr., Frizscha Audrey Nugraha, Adinda Islamaya, Juliarti Safitri, Monika, and Vanessa Angelika. The presence of this complete team ensures that all aspects of implementation, from IoT devices and AI systems to website management, are comprehensively communicated to waste bank administrators and members.
The mentoring included training on BSKM website management and practical use of IoT scales, which can record waste data automatically, accurately, and in an integrated manner. This technology is expected to form the new foundation for a more modern and efficient waste bank administration system.
During the training session, Frizscha, Adinda, and Juliarti introduced various website features, from recording transactions and checking the waste savings account balance to accessing member information.
Equally engaging, Monika and Vanessa demonstrated AI intelligence capable of recognizing waste types and providing AI-based educational features for the community.
This activity received special attention from the Head of Karya Makmur Village, Barwi Arkoni, SE, N. LP, who was present to personally review the implementation of the technology, an innovation initiated by the BSKM team from the Polman Babel campus.
According to Barwi, the implementation of this technology has had a significant impact on the development of the village waste bank, and the use of IoT and AI systems has made the Karya Mandiri Waste Bank even more advanced, developed, and able to keep up with the modern era," he said.
Furthermore, the need for technology in villages continues to increase, so this kind of assistance doesn't stop here but continues as a technology-based village development program.
"Alhamdulillah (Praise be to God), I hope this program from the Polman Babel lecturer will greatly assist waste management activities in Karya Makmur Village," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the BSKM Team, Riki Afriansyah, M.T., explained on Monday (November 24, 2025) that this assistance not only improves the technical skills of the managers but also opens up opportunities for transformation towards effective, transparent, and sustainable waste management.
"The integration of IoT and AI allows for real-time monitoring of waste volume, speeds up the sorting process, and minimizes recording errors," he said.
"Overall, the implementation of IoT and AI at the Karya Mandiri Waste Bank not only improves the effectiveness of waste management but also drives digital transformation at the village level because it can be used to support a circular economy, increase community engagement, and lead Karya Makmur Village towards smarter and more sustainable environmental management," Riki emphasized.
