Two Leading Taiwanese Campuses Visit Polman Negeri Babel, Offering Dual Degree Programs and Scholarships
Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) had the honor to receive visits from academics from Chung Hua University and Hsing Wu University, Taiwan. This visit was an important moment in Polman Babel's efforts to expand international networks and improve the quality of vocational education in Bangka Belitung Province, Thursday (17/10/2024).
The delegation from Taiwan included Prof. Yu Li Lin, Dean of Academic Affairs from Chung Hua University (CHU), Prof. Yi Wen Chen, Commissioner of Chung Hua University, Prof. Alfonso Kuo, Vice-President of Hsing Wu University (HWU), and Ms. Deandra, International Office Staff from Chung Hua University accompanied by Supriantono, M.BA as Director of INTACT Base Bangka Belitung.
They were warmly welcomed by the Director of Polmanbabel I Made Andik Setiawan Ph.D., and the Heads of Departments, namely Dr. Ilham Ari Wahyudie, M.T., and Zanu Saputera, M.Tr.T., Secretary and the Heads of Study Programs enthusiastically welcomed the potential of this international collaboration.
In his speech, Made expressed his highest appreciation for the trust of Taiwanese campuses for choosing Polmanbabel as their collaboration partner. Made hopes that next year the Joint Degree program with CHU and HWU Taiwan can be implemented immediately.
''In the future, we hope that CHU and HWU can open up opportunities for students majoring in RPL and Digital Business. "Hopefully the Polman Babel lecturers can get scholarships to continue their studies at the doctoral level at CHU," added Made in his speech.
On this occasion, the Chair of the Polman Babel Career and Collaboration Center, Ir. Dedy Ramdhani Harahap, M.Sc.(Eng) explained that this visit aims to develop various collaborative programs, including the INTENSE Taiwan Dual/Joint Degree Program where this program has received full support from the KLSD DIKSI Directorate which is expected to be implemented next year by all Polytechnics Indonesia. Apart from that, further study programs from Diploma 3 to Bachelor's level, as well as further education programs up to Master's and Doctoral levels can continue until next year.
"With this collaboration, Polman Babel can access student and staff exchange programs, including the Visiting Professor, Join Research and Publication programs," said Dedy.
He added that Polman Babel's status as a sister school to Hsing Wu University and Chung Hua University provides wider opportunities for Polman Babel students and staff.
This visit also aims to strengthen cooperative relations with Taiwan through the Taiwan Scholarship program represented by INTACT Base Taiwan which is located on the Polman Babel campus. This program will open access to scholarships specifically for Polman Babel students and other universities in Bangka Belitung who wish to continue their studies in Taiwan.
Dedy hopes that with partners from leading Taiwanese universities, Polman Babel students will be increasingly motivated to achieve a bachelor's degree with global access. "Apart from that, Polman Babel also has the opportunity to obtain a license to carry out Mandarin language competency tests which are recognized by the Taiwan government," he added.
Director of Polman Babel, I Made Andik Setiawan, M.Eng., Ph.D., revealed that this collaboration will help Polman Babel achieve various Key Performance Indicators (IKU) for State Universities, as well as expand students' opportunities to gain international experience.
“This is a big step forward for Polman Babel. "We hope that this program will not only enrich students' learning experience, but also open up opportunities for them to have careers in Taiwanese companies after graduating," said Made.
Through the Joint Degree Taiwan program, Polman Babel students will have the opportunity to carry out their third year of study in Taiwan while working in companies there that have also collaborated with campuses affiliated with the INTENSE Taiwan program.
Job opportunities for Polman Babel graduates who take part in the INTENSE program will be rewarded with a Taiwanese standard salary.
This year, 6 Polmanbabel students have been accepted at 2 Taiwan campuses through this program. So it is hoped that in the future this program will become a special attraction for prospective Polmanbabel students who want to explore international careers.
