Occupational Health and Safety (K3) Certification Underway: State Polytechnic of Bangka Belitung Signs Cooperation Agreement with Construction Services Center Region II Palembang
To support the enhancement of student competence in the construction sector, the Director of the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Negeri Babel) and the Head of the Palembang Region II Construction Services Center signed a cooperation agreement.
To facilitate student participation in the Construction Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Supervisor certification program, the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) established a partnership with the Palembang Regional Construction Services Center (Balai Jasa Konstruksi Wilayah II Palembang) during a meeting held in the Director's conference room on Thursday (August 27, 2026).
The cooperation agreement was signed by the Director of Polman Babel, I Made Andik Setiawan, Ph.D., and the Head of the Palembang Regional Construction Services Center, witnessed by the Executive Director of the Polman Babel Professional Certification Institute (LSP).
Director I Made Andik Setiawan, Ph.D., explained that the agreement had been in preparation for some time as part of an effort to strengthen student competencies through the nationally recognized BNSP certification.
He added that certification represents a crucial value-add for students, helping them prepare for job applications after graduation while also encouraging them to enhance their skills during their studies.
Furthermore, inter-agency cooperation is essential to ensure the sustainable implementation of the certification program and to establish a clear administrative foundation.
"Administrative organization supports higher education accreditation; orderly administration ensures that every certification activity is well-documented and has clear objectives," he stated.
He further noted that this collaboration not only benefits the implementation of OHS (Occupational Health and Safety) certification but also opens up opportunities for developing other cooperative programs between Polman Babel and the Palembang Region II Construction Services Center.
Echoing this sentiment, the Head of the Palembang Region II Construction Services Center, Ir. Soeryadi, M.T., expressed his gratitude to Polman Babel for signing the cooperation agreement, noting that it paves the way for similar certification programs to continue next year.
Additionally, he suggested that Polman Babel submit proposals for certification activities early in the year, as doing so could increase the likelihood of securing a larger participant quota for the program.
Ia berencana, selain sertifikasi K3, Polman Babel memiliki potensi besar dalam pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi dalam meningkatkan kualitas sumber daya manusia di bidang konstruksi.
" Berkeinginan Polman Babel bisa mengembangkan program studi baru yang berkaitan dengan K3 sejalan dengan kebutuhan industri terhadap tenaga kerja yang memiliki kompetensi dan sertifikasi di bidang keselamatan dan kesehatan kerja," pesannya.
Kesanggupannya, kerja sama ini dapat memperluas akses mahasiswa terhadap sertifikasi kompetensi dengan harapan lulusan Polman Babel tidak hanya memiliki bekal akademik, tetapi juga kompetensi profesional yang dibutuhkan industri," jujurnya.
