Hard Work Pays Off: Students from the Polman Negeri Babel TRPL Win IT COMP 2025
Relentless practice finally yielded brilliant results. Students from the Software Engineering Technology (TRPL) Study Program at the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) won the 2025 Information Technology Competition (IT COMP), held online by Samarinda State Polytechnic on Wednesday (October 29, 2025).
The Polman Babel team, Techspirion AI, consisting of Monika, Raihan Adi Pratama, and Vanessa Angelika, secured first place after passing a rigorous selection process and competing in the final round against 10 teams from various universities.
In an interview, Monika, one of the students, said this victory was the result of long, hard work. "We've actually been working on the application design, video preparation, and communication between the members for a long time, although it's difficult to meet due to our busy schedules, but we remain enthusiastic," she admitted.
Furthermore, the support of our supervisors is very meaningful and extraordinary, even though they were initially pessimistic because they had never won before.
"But the encouragement and support of my supervisors made me rekindle my enthusiasm," she said.

In contrast, Vanessa Angelika explained that her interest in IT had been piqued since high school. "I've always loved IT, so when I was chosen to participate in this competition, I was thrilled. Especially because I could bring good name to the university," she explained.
Another important point: studying at Polman Babel offers many exciting opportunities and challenges as a TRPL student.
"It's not just about learning theory; it also requires a strong sense of curiosity, understanding of systems, and being ready to compete," she added.
Behind that, winning isn't just about the trophy; it's also about teamwork. Most importantly, choose teammates who are on the same wavelength. Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses, so we must complement each other in our preparation for the competition," she said.
The student's supervisor, Riki Afriansyah, M.T., acknowledged that the student's long struggle had finally paid off. "He has always supported and guided them until the results were worth it, and they became champions," he concluded.
Furthermore, Riki advised that this achievement should inspire other students to follow in the footsteps of the champions and nurture new talents for the future, as the current challenge is how to foster Gen Z's interest in actively competing.
"Creative ideas are needed to inspire them and to see that activities like this can be exciting and valuable experiences," he concluded.
