Polman Negeri Babel Hosts INTACT Base Mandarin Class Socialization
INTACT Base Bangka Belitung held a Mandarin language class socialization event in the presentation room of the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) on Thursday, January 29, 2026.
This activity, part of an effort to broaden students' horizons about global career opportunities, was attended by 29 final-year students from various universities. In addition to Polman Babel students, participants also came from the University of Bangka Belitung (UBB) and ISB Atma Luhur.
This socialization aimed to increase student literacy regarding the importance of mastering foreign languages, particularly Mandarin, as preparation for facing the increasingly competitive job market.
In his remarks, Ir. Dedy Ramdhani Harahap, M.Sc., (Eng) stated that career development needs to be prepared early and that students should continue to strive to guide them on a clear career path to avoid ending up unemployed after graduation.
According to Dedy, mastering Mandarin can be a significant added value. Besides opening up broader job opportunities, the language learning process can also be presented in a fun way so it doesn't feel burdensome to students.
"He also mentioned that since 2017, Taiwan has been known as a very open and welcoming country to Indonesian students, both in terms of education and job opportunities after graduation," he explained.

Furthermore, he explained that Mandarin language skills can open access to various job sectors with decent and competitive salary opportunities, especially in international companies and the Southeast Asian region," he said.
This activity also serves as a means to encourage final-year students to be more aware of global opportunities, not only focusing on the local job market but also daring to compete internationally," he added.
Interestingly, the Mandarin language classes offered through the INTACT Base program are free, complete with intensive guidance in the Mandarin language learning program," he concluded.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Academic Support Unit for Career Development and Entrepreneurship, Harwadi, M.Ed., stated that the INTENSE Taiwan program has opened opportunities for Polman Babel students to pursue careers abroad and is one of the institution's efforts to provide better career planning opportunities for Polman Babel students.
Harwadi explained that by supporting students who are concerned and considering their future careers, they are encouraged to utilize the channels provided by the UPA Career and Entrepreneurship Center for consultations.
"In the future, the international collaboration program will be expanded to other countries so that Polman Babel students and alumni have more diverse career options for their future doctoral studies in Taiwan," he acknowledged.
On the other hand, Nopita, B.Ed., a Mandarin teacher at INTACT Base, explained that learning Mandarin doesn't need to be considered complicated. As long as there is intention and consistency in learning, anyone can master it, as every student trained can communicate in Mandarin in just 60 sessions," she explained.
Nopita also encouraged seminar participants to consider Mandarin language skills as a way to increase job opportunities in Indonesia, amidst the increasing number of Chinese and Taiwanese companies investing in Indonesia.
