Polman Negeri Babel Students Equipped with MBKM Understanding to Improve Competence
The Hall Building of the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) looked crowded, Friday (05/23/2025), when hundreds of students from various departments attended the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) socialization. This activity is an important forum for students to understand more deeply the off-campus learning scheme.
The students who attended came from the active semesters of the Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Agricultural Industry departments, to Informatics and Business. They directly listened to the presentation and actively discussed in the question and answer session that was held.
Deputy Director I of Polman Babel, Irwan, Ph.D., was present as the main resource person. In his presentation, Irwan explained in detail the procedures for implementing the MBKM program, including the types of activities that students can participate in.
"The MBKM program provides opportunities for students to study off-campus through internships, village projects, teaching assistance, student exchanges, and independent research," he said.
He also reminded that students must prepare various supporting documents, such as activity proposals, final reports, and assessment forms from the institutions where they are undergoing MBKM.
In addition, students are also asked to pay attention to the assessment of the Merdeka Belajar activities, as well as the recapitulation process of all activities carried out during the program.
Irwan emphasized the importance of active communication between students and supervisors so that the administration and reporting processes can run smoothly.
"Don't hesitate to ask if there is anything that is not clear," he said.

One of the students, Teriska from the Applied Bachelor of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering program, said she was happy to be able to participate in this socialization.
"I understand the flow of MBKM implementation better and have started designing my internship proposal," she said.
According to Teriska, this socialization opened her insight into flexible learning options, while also increasing her enthusiasm to try new experiences outside of campus.
With this activity, it is hoped that more Polman Babel students will be interested and ready to take advantage of the opportunities from the MBKM program to hone their competencies," she concluded.
