Final Year Students of Polman Negeri Babel Participate in Competency and Professional Certification
Final-year students at the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) participated in the Student Competency and Professional Certification (SKPM) program, which ran for five days from August 11 to 16, 2025.
A total of 250 students participated in the program, representing various study programs, including Diploma IV in Electronic Engineering, Diploma IV in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, Diploma III in Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Design Engineering, and Machine Maintenance and Repair Engineering. The program involved a team of assessors and internal lecturers from Polman Babel.

The Head of the Polman Babel Professional Certification Institute (LSP), Adhi Budiono, S.S.T., explained on Monday (August 11, 2025) that this certification is a crucial step for students before entering the workforce. "We have prepared ten test schemes according to the competencies of each study program," he explained.
For the Diploma III Electronics Engineering study program, the test schemes implemented include the installation of PLC-based and non-PLC-based electrical automation installations. Meanwhile, the Diploma III Mechanical Design Engineering study program includes 3D drawing schemes using CAD systems and mechanical design using 3D CAD systems," he explained.
"In fact, in the Diploma III in Machine Maintenance and Repair Engineering, participants participate in three schemes: SMAW (MMAW) welding, complex lathe operation, and machine and equipment maintenance," he said.

Meanwhile, the Diploma IV in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering covers SMAW (MMAW) welding, complex milling machine operation, and basic NC-CNC machine programming. All of these schemes are designed to hone technical skills according to current industry needs," he continued.
Adhi added that this certification not only serves as a recognition of competence but also as a provision that strengthens graduates' position in the job market.
"With this certificate, students have formal, nationally recognized proof," he acknowledged.

Furthermore, students who are declared competent will receive an official certificate that is valid nationally. "This certificate adds value to graduates, especially when applying for jobs in the manufacturing, machinery, and technology sectors," he said.
This SKPM activity is a routine annual event, and by 2025, it is hoped that it will graduate students who are ready to compete in the workforce and continue their studies.
"We want Polman Babel graduates to have not only a diploma, but also measurable proof of competence," Adhi concluded.
