Celebrating its 32nd Anniversary at the new BBIS campus, Polman Negeri Babel strengthens its resolve to face technological challenges.
No less festive than in previous years, the 32nd Anniversary celebration of the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Negeri Babel) was held this time at the BBIS Campus—home to the Applied Bachelor’s Study Program in Aquaculture Technology—in Tutut Village on Wednesday (October 14, 2026).
Although the event took place at a location different from the original campus in Air Kantung, the celebration was attended and enlivened by the entire staff and student body of Polman Negeri Babel. A sense of togetherness was palpable during the ceremonial cutting of the *tumpeng* (cone-shaped yellow rice), a highlight of the vocational institution's anniversary commemoration.
On this occasion, the Director of Polman Negeri Babel, I Made Andik Setiawan, Ph.D., addressed the evolving challenges in education driven by rapid technological advancement. He explained that such progress demands that academics continuously adapt to keep pace with changes in the learning process.
He emphasized that lecturers must enhance their skills and update their technological knowledge to avoid falling behind in the evolution of teaching methods. This is crucial, as students must be equipped with knowledge that remains relevant to the needs of the times.
“Above all, lecturers must keep up with technological advancements. Failing to do so risks leaving them behind in their teaching activities and the delivery of knowledge to students,” he said.

He went on to urge lecturers to ensure that students truly grasp the material being taught. The learning process must impart knowledge that students can understand and apply; it is unacceptable for students to remain uninformed simply because the lecturer has not yet mastered the subject matter. Students must be guided to fully understand and comprehend the knowledge being shared,” he stated.
On another note, the role of director entails a specific set of responsibilities. He explained that once his tenure as director concludes, he will return to his standard duties as a lecturer—teaching and working in accordance with prevailing regulations.
It is important to recognize that not all proposals from staff can be implemented immediately, as there are various needs and issues that must be prioritized based on their urgency.
“At times, there are staff proposals that—regrettably—cannot yet be fulfilled because other, more pressing issues take precedence,” he remarked.
Furthermore, he urged all employees to work with sincere and genuine intentions—without seeking praise or recognition from others—while maintaining a professional attitude, performing well, and valuing every assigned responsibility.
“Work with a sincere heart. Employees need not wait for others to notice them in order to do good. What is certain is that Allah SWT knows what we do, whether good or bad. We reap what we sow,” he emphasized.

On the same occasion, the 32nd Anniversary celebration of Polman Negeri Babel also included a retirement tribute to Bowo Kristanto, featuring the presentation of a certificate of appreciation for his dedicated service and contributions during his tenure at the institution," he added.
Beyond the celebration of the institution's milestone, the event served as a reminder to the entire academic community to continuously enhance their competence, foster a spirit of togetherness, and serve with a strong sense of responsibility for the advancement of Polman Negeri Babel," stated I Made.
