Enjoyable Chat on Polman Negeri Babel Podcast, Revealing the Secrets of Mechanical Design Techniques
The Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) is back with an innovation in sharing information about its study programs. This time, through a relaxed yet insightful podcast, the Diploma III Mechanical Design Engineering (TPcM) Study Program is the main highlight.
This event was held on Thursday (03/13/2025) and hosted by Lamia Eva Rin, MBA, who spoke directly with the Head of the TPcM Study Program, Muhammad Harisah Amrullah, M.Eng., or who is familiarly called Ayit.
In a warm and insightful discussion, Ayit explained in depth about Mechanical Design Engineering, including its important role in the manufacturing industry. Mechanical Design Engineering focuses on product design development, material strength analysis, to the implementation of manufacturing technology in the production process," he said.
Furthermore, Ayit also discussed the differences between the Diploma and Bachelor levels. According to him, Diploma III education emphasizes practical skills with a composition of 70% practice and 30% theory.
"Diploma III graduates at Polman Babel are equipped with skills that are ready to be applied directly in the industrial world," he added.
This podcast also discusses the various advantages of the TPcM Study Program. One of them is the project-based learning system and student involvement in various national and international engineering competitions.
"We continue to encourage students to be active in innovative projects, so that when they graduate they are not only ready to work but also have competitive experience," he said.
In addition, TPcM Polman Babel has received superior accreditation, which confirms the quality of education and the competitiveness of its graduates. This advantage is further strengthened by the existence of industry collaborations that allow students to gain work experience early on.
Interestingly, this podcast also discusses the challenges and opportunities for TPcM graduates in the world of work. According to Ayit, graduates of this program are widely absorbed in various industrial sectors, ranging from manufacturing, automotive, to high-tech product design.
"Many of our alumni are currently working in large companies, some even continue their education to a higher level," he said.
In between the chat, Ayit also emphasized the importance of interpersonal skills for TPcM students. "Technical skills are indeed the main thing, but soft skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving are also very important in the world of work," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Polman Babel Podcast Team, Olan Romdhani, S.E., when met on Friday (03/14/2025), revealed that this activity received a positive response from students and prospective students who were interested in studying the world of mechanical design. According to him, the relaxed but informative discussion format makes the topics discussed easier to understand, while also opening up insights about the prospects of this study program," he said.
"Through events like this, Polman Babel continues to present transparent and interesting information to the public. We hope that this podcast will be a bridge for prospective students to get to know the world of mechanical design engineering better and choose an educational path that suits their passion and industry needs," he said.
Along with the rapid development of technology and industry demands, Mechanical Design Engineering graduates are expected to be able to become innovators and problem solvers in the manufacturing world. Olan added that this podcast is real proof that vocational education has a strategic role in producing competent workers," explained Olan.
