Babel State Polman Lecturer's Dedication, Creating a Creative Generation and Free Online Gambling at SMKN 2 Sungailiat
In an effort to support improving the quality of the younger generation, the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) through the Community Service program is holding educational activities at SMKN 2 Sungailiat, Bangka Regency. Wednesday (18/12/2024)
This activity combines two important topics, the dangers of online gambling and training in making simple games.
The first activity carried out was outreach regarding the negative impacts of online gambling, especially for students. Online gambling is considered to have a negative impact not only economically, but also socially and psychologically.

In the presentation, one of the Lecturers at Polman Babel, Muhamad Galy Njoman Ari Pribowo., M.M, explained how online gambling addiction can destroy the future of the younger generation. Those who are trapped often lose focus on education, and even get trapped in debt due to uncontrolled consumer behavior. "Participants are encouraged to be wiser in managing personal finances and stay away from detrimental digital activities," he said.
"We want students to understand that online gambling can damage their financial stability and social life," he said.
As an alternative, the service team, the lecturer supervising this training, Sidhiq Andriyanto, M.Kom., Friday (20/12/2024) provided a creative solution through training in making simple games. "This training uses an easily accessible programming platform, so students from various backgrounds can take part," he said.
"We want to provide practical skills that can equip them for the future, especially in the gaming industry which continues to grow," added Sidhiq Andriyanto.
During training, students not only learn about the basics of programming, but are also given the opportunity to develop their own creative ideas. "This activity is a space for students to explore their potential in the world of technology while diverting attention from less productive digital activities," he said.
The school welcomed this initiative positively. one of the teachers at SMKN 2 Sungailiat, Riky Ardiansyah, S.Kom, Gr, ACP stated, Activities like this are very relevant to the challenges our students face in the digital era. "Not only does it increase their knowledge about the dangers of online gambling, but it also provides skills that can be directly applied." he added.
"Students' enthusiasm was visible during the activity. They actively asked questions during the socialization session and showed creativity in game making training," he said.
Furthermore, this activity opens students' insight into career opportunities in the technology field, especially the gaming industry which is on the rise. With the basic skills that have been acquired, students are expected to be motivated to develop their abilities in the future.
This program also reflects the synergy between higher education and secondary schools in creating a superior young generation. This collaboration is clear proof that education can be a solution to various social challenges, including the increasingly widespread dangers of online gambling.
Through this Community Service activity organized by Lecturers at Polman Babel, it not only provides knowledge, but also inspiration for students to dare to dream bigger.
"We hope that this activity will have a long-term impact, both for students and the school community," emphasized Riky Ardiansyah.
One of the students, Andi, expressed his gratitude. "I learned more about the dangers of online gambling and it turned out to make the game fun and challenging," he said.
