From the PPKMB field, the TNI teaches new students at Polman Negeri Babel the meaning of discipline and unity.
Major (Caj) Ronal Manik conducted an orientation session for new students at the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Negeri Babel) as part of the 2026 new student orientation program (PPKMB), instilling values of nationalism, discipline, solidarity, and care for others.
The 2026 Campus Life Introduction Program (PPKMB) for new students at the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) continued into its second day on Tuesday (August 4, 2026). The event featured sessions on mental conditioning, physical fitness, and character building, facilitated by personnel from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) in the courtyard of the Polman Babel Hall.
During the activities, TNI Major (Caj) Ronal Manik delivered a presentation on the importance of instilling nationalist values in daily life. He emphasized that students, as the nation's next generation, must possess a love for their country and uphold the values of unity and integrity.
He added that the orientation aimed to foster discipline, responsibility, cohesion, and mental resilience in new students as they prepare for college life, ultimately shaping a character that supports their academic journey in higher education.
Meanwhile, during the training session led by First Warrant Officer (Peltu) Erwandi, new students gathered to participate in various activities. These were not intended to torment the students but rather served as a means of character education, designed to instill discipline and ensure students maintain proper ethics in their daily lives.
"The goal is for them to respect their fellow students; they also undergo marching drills to build cohesion and discipline," he stated.
He further noted that character building is not solely about discipline; it must also be accompanied by social awareness regarding the surrounding environment. Students are encouraged to be sensitive to the needs of others and to take the initiative to provide assistance within their capabilities.
Furthermore, students were advised not to limit their social circles based on backgrounds or specific groups; instead, they were encouraged to befriend anyone and to adopt positive qualities from the people they meet throughout their college journey.
"Do not be selective about friends. Befriend everyone; embrace their positive traits and discard the negative ones," he advised.
"Ultimately, all of this hinges on the intentions you held from the moment you left home until your arrival at the Polman Babel campus. Remember the prayers and hopes of your parents: study diligently until graduation and do not give up halfway," emphasized First Warrant Officer (Peltu) Erwandi.
