51 TRPL Students from Polman Negeri Babel Showcase Applied Technology Projects at Final Project Defense

With confidence, TRPL students from Polman Negeri Babel presented their applied technology projects during the final project defense before the examining lecturers—a requirement for graduation.

Dozens of students from the Software Engineering Technology (TRPL) program—part of the Informatics and Business Department at the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Negeri Babel)—participated in a five-day Final Project defense. This event, a graduation requirement, showcased a variety of technology-based innovations.

Speaking on Friday (July 17, 2026), Yang Agita Rindri, M.Eng., Head of the Informatics and Business Department, noted that 51 final projects were presented by students during the Even Semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. "The projects covered fields ranging from Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) to Software Development, reflecting both the evolution of digital technology and the students' ability to create practical, applicable solutions," she explained.

"The majority of these final projects are software products developed for various partners of Polman Negeri Babel—including local governments, schools, industries, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs)—thereby fulfilling academic requirements while delivering tangible benefits to the community," she added.

The defense serves as a platform for students to account for the research and innovations developed during their studies; it tests their academic proficiency and trains them to articulate their ideas scientifically before a panel of examiners.

"All students are required to adhere to the established regulations during the defense proceedings; maintaining discipline is part of shaping professional character, ensuring the entire process runs in an orderly and smooth manner in accordance with academic standards," he stated.

He continued by noting that the work produced by students should yield positive impacts across various sectors of life. "Innovations emerging from the campus environment can serve as solutions for the needs of government, education, the business world, and the ever-evolving industrial sector," he added.

Meanwhile, Sidhiq Andriyanto, M.Kom., Head of the Software Engineering Technology (TRPL) Study Program, emphasized that input from the examining lecturers plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of student projects. "Every suggestion serves as a basis for refining final projects and allows the study program to evaluate and align its curriculum with technological advancements," he said.

Furthermore, the experience of defending their scholarly work before a panel of examiners serves as valuable preparation for students entering the workforce.

"Critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to communicate innovations are highly sought-after competencies in the era of digital transformation," he remarked.

"In addition, graduates of the Software Engineering Technology program at Polman Babel—the leading campus in Bangka Belitung—must possess practical skills and the ability to compete as professionals in the technology sector. An increasing number of student innovations that benefit the community will give prospective students compelling reasons to choose the TRPL program at Polman Negeri Babel as the place to develop their software engineering competencies," Sidhiq asserted.
