Opening PPKMB 2026, the Director of the Bangka Belitung State Polytechnic for Manufacturing (Polman Negeri Babel) Urges New Students to Uphold the Good Name of Themselves, Their Parents, and Their Alma Mater.
Director of Polman Negeri Babel, I Made Andik Setiawan, Ph.D., delivered a motivational message and provisions for new students to face the journey of college at the opening ceremony.
Following a series of preliminary activities for the New Student Campus Life Introduction (PPKMB), hundreds of new students from the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) officially attended the opening ceremony of PPKMB 2026 on Monday (August 3, 2026).
The opening ceremony took place in the main hall of Polman Babel—Bangka Belitung’s premier vocational institution—and was attended by approximately 750 new students. Starting at 06:30 WIB, the students had already gathered at the venue in an orderly and composed manner, ready to participate in the initial agenda.
The PPKMB 2026 opening was attended by Polman Babel Director I Made Andik Setiawan, the leadership team and academic community, as well as the Student Executive Board (BEM) committee members who were on hand to assist the new students throughout the event.
In his remarks, Polman Babel Director I Made Andik Setiawan noted that the new students had entered a different phase of life; now that they were officially university students, they were expected to distinguish between right and wrong and take responsibility for the choices they made. He advised them not to act arrogantly, merely try to appear intelligent, or feign achievements solely to gain recognition.
I Made urged new students to steer clear of drugs and other negative behaviors that could jeopardize their futures, emphasizing that every student bears the responsibility of upholding their own reputation, as well as that of their families, parents, and their alma mater, Polman Babel.
He also called on the new students to prepare themselves for the various possibilities they might encounter during their studies at Polman Babel. Since the future is uncertain, students must equip themselves with knowledge, experience, attentiveness, and a willingness to keep learning.
"Prepare yourselves as best you can for the next three or four years; you must study hard, pay close attention to the process, absorb every lesson, and build a solid foundation for your future," he concluded.
In the same vein, he advised students not to complain easily when facing obstacles during their studies. Acknowledging that challenges and struggles are inevitable, he urged them not to view failure as the end of the road, but rather as an opportunity to seek alternative paths while remaining patient and persistent.
Addressing the new students, he welcomed all PPKMB participants into the extended Polman Babel family—a community comprising not only lecturers and staff but also alumni spread across Indonesia.
Closing his remarks, I Made encouraged the students to be grateful for the opportunity to pursue higher education at Polman Babel. He noted that their presence there was the result of a long journey involving various selection processes—such as SNBP, SNBT, and independent admission—and urged them to make the most of this opportunity.
