Expertise of Two Bangka Belitung State Polytechnic Lecturers Sought by Bangka Regency Tourism and Culture Office for Speaking Engagements
Lecturers from the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) extended their professional engagement to the Bangka Regency Tourism and Culture Office on Tuesday (August 4, 2026), participating in a foundational capacity-building program for tourism and creative economy human resources.
Two Polman Babel lecturers served as resource persons: Lamia Eva Rini, M.B.A., covered the topic of branding, while Muhammad Setya Pratama, M.Si., addressed digital marketing for the staff of the Bangka Regency Tourism and Culture Office.
When asked for details, Muhammad Setya Pratama, M.Si., explained that he presented practical digital marketing concepts. These included building a business identity on social media, creating engaging content, understanding digital consumer behavior, and utilizing platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Google Maps, and WhatsApp Business as effective promotional tools.
The session aimed to foster an understanding of how branding helps business owners establish product identity and value, while digital marketing serves as a means to introduce products and reach a wider market.
"The goal is to inspire MSME players, as well as those in the tourism and creative economy sectors in Bangka Regency, with a strong drive to grow," he stated.

As a result, the knowledge gained does not end with the training itself but can be immediately applied to business management, thereby boosting the competitiveness of local products and expanding market reach. However, challenges remain due to the participants' varying levels of digital literacy—requiring material delivery to be tailored to individual capabilities—and the suboptimal use of social media for business purposes," he stated.
"Furthermore, some participants still use social media primarily for personal purposes and lack an understanding of effective digital marketing strategies. There are also limitations in their ability to create high-quality content, whether in terms of product photography, caption writing, or producing engaging short videos," he emphasized.
"This situation highlights the importance of periodic mentoring, which would allow participants to receive guidance as they begin implementing branding and digital marketing strategies in their respective businesses," he concluded.
