Career Guidance, Babel State Polman Lecturer Equips Muhammadiyah Sungailiat Vocational School Students to Face the World of Work
The world of work continues to develop rapidly, requiring the younger generation to be more prepared and adaptive. Realizing this, SMK Muhammadiyah Sungailiat held a Career Guidance event on Tuesday (25/02/2025) by presenting speakers from various fields.
One of those who also shared insights was a lecturer at the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel), Dr. Ilham Ary Wahyudie, M.T.
This activity was attended by 29 students who were enthusiastic about absorbing knowledge from experts, including representatives of the Bangka Belitung Provincial Manpower Office, Wira Purnama, M.Eng.
This event aims to provide an in-depth understanding of career development strategies from an early age, especially in an increasingly competitive industrial era.

In his speech, the Head of SMK Muhammadiyah Sungailiat, Deny Kurniawan, M.Pd., who is also an alumnus of Polman Babel, said the importance of collaboration between academics, government and educational institutions in guiding students towards a brighter future. "He hopes that the knowledge provided can be applied by students in determining their career direction," he added.
"We really appreciate the support from Polman Babel and the Manpower Department who are willing to share their experiences. "We hope that activities like this can continue and provide wider benefits to the world of education and industry," said Deny.
Dr. "Ilham Ary Wahyudie, M.T., in his material invited students to recognize the competencies they have so that they are better prepared to compete in the world of work, that readiness does not only depend on technical skills, but also soft skills such as communication, teamwork and problem-solving," he said.
"Companies are currently looking for individuals who not only have technical skills, but also a professional attitude, initiative, and the ability to adapt to dynamic industry changes," said Dr. Inspiration.
Furthermore, he explained that formal education, such as at Polytechnics, is an effective pathway for improving students' skills and competencies. "With strong educational provisions, they will be more confident in pursuing careers in various industrial fields," he said.

Not only that, Dr. Ilham also highlighted the importance of understanding industry trends and developments in the world of work so that students can adapt to market needs. "He invited them to start building a professional network as a first step in achieving success in the future," he said.
"With a good understanding of the world of work, students are not only able to see opportunities and challenges, but are also able to apply the knowledge they have learned in real practice. "This is an important foundation for becoming a professional or even a successful entrepreneur," he added.
It is hoped that this Career Guidance event will become a regular agenda that will continue to be developed so that more and more students gain in-depth insight into the world of work. "Collaboration between the world of education and industry is considered the key to producing human resources who are competent and ready to compete in the modern era," said Dr. Ilham Ary Wahyudie, M.T.
