Returning from Taiwan, Babel State Polman Students Ready to Bring New Knowledge to Indonesia
Students from the Software Engineering and Electronics Engineering Study Program at the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) successfully completed the 2024 Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) program at Asia University, Taiwan.
They are Reddy Ibrahim and Franky, who have now returned to campus with new enthusiasm to complete their studies until graduation.
Reddy and Franky arrived back at Polman Babel on Thursday (23/01/2025) looking very grateful to be able to undergo this extraordinary experience. Now, I am more enthusiastic about continuing my studies until I graduate.
When interviewed, Reddy Ibrahim shared his experiences during one semester in Taiwan. Studying at Asia University provides many new insights, both in academic, cultural and industrial technology aspects. "We learned about cyber security, web development, and system deployment which are very applicable in the world of work," he said.
Apart from that, Reddy revealed that the learning culture in Taiwan is very different. "There, we are taught to be more independent and think critically. Their learning system challenges and encourages us to continue to develop," he added.
Reddy also advised his friends who dream of continuing their studies abroad. Prepare your English and, if possible, Mandarin. "Communication skills are very important to be able to interact with lecturers, friends and the local community," he advised.
Franky, who also took part in the program, expressed the same thing. I am very inspired by the way Taiwanese value education and technology. "This encourages me to continue improving my abilities, especially in the field of technology," he said.
One of their lecturers, Riki Afriansyah, M.T., appreciated the achievements of the two students. The success of Reddy and Franky is proof that Polman Babel students are able to compete on the international stage. "This also opens the way for other students to take part in similar programs," said Riki.
Riki also added that student participation in the IISMA program had a positive impact on the institution. "Previous year, several students I supervised also participated in this program, namely Dilah Andini and Sahrul Ramadhan," he added.
"This program not only enriches the student experience, but also improves the campus' reputation at the global level. We hope that more students will dare to take opportunities like this," he said.
The return of these two students was warmly welcomed by friends and the Polman Babel academic community. "Hopefully it will be a motivation for other students. Students are expected to be active in developing their skills and potential, so that they can become competent individuals and ready to face future challenges," stressed Riki.
