Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) student, Afghan Almufqi Yournawan, succeeded in showing his talent in the Tahfidz Qur'an selection at the Bangka Belitung Islands Province level which took place from 25 to 26 September 2024. In this competition, Afghan successfully won the 20 juz category with a score total 88.5.
Afghan, a student who is known to be diligent and accomplished, expressed his motivation from an early age to memorize the Koran. "I have been interested in memorizing since I was in elementary school. My love for the Al-Qur'an encourages me to continue memorizing," he said when interviewed, Wednesday (16/10/2024).
Furthermore, Afghan revealed that his aspirations became stronger when he entered junior high school. He dreams of becoming a hafidz who is able to memorize the Koran in full. This desire became stronger when he continued his education at an Islamic boarding school during high school, where he saw a great opportunity to deepen his memorization.
Apart from that, Afghan also has a noble dream of making his parents proud. "I want to give the crown to my parents in the afterlife. Apart from that, in this world, I also want to learn more about Arabic," he said.
According to Afghan, being a memorizer of the Koran brings many privileges. “I believe that people who memorize the Koran are smart. "Because of that, I am motivated to become one of them," he said enthusiastically.
However, the journey to memorize the Koran is not easy. Afghan revealed the biggest challenge he faced, namely maintaining and strengthening memorization.
"When we memorize a juz, we have to make sure the memorization is solid. We call this the 'rabt' stage, the stage of binding memorization," he explained.
Meanwhile, the Director of Polman Babel, I Made Andik Setiawan,M.Eng.,Ph.D. also expressed his appreciation for the achievements achieved by Afghan. According to him, this achievement was the result of Afghan's hard work and perseverance in studying the Koran.
