Polman Negeri Babel Becomes a Destination for Educational Visits by High School and Vocational School Students
The Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) once again hosted a further educational visit for senior high school (SMA) and vocational high school (SMK) students. The three-day event, held from October 14-16, 2025, at the Polman Babel Hall, provided an opportunity for students to gain a deeper understanding of the world of polytechnics.
On the first day, Tuesday (10/14/2025), the campus hosted visits from three schools: SMA Negeri 1 Pemali, SMA Negeri 1 Sungailiat, and SMK Negeri 1 Sungailiat. Ninety students attended, eager to participate in all the activities prepared by the committee.
The event opened with remarks by Somawardi, M.T., Head of Academic, Student Affairs, and Cooperation at Polman Babel. In his presentation, he introduced the various advantages of the campus, known as a leading center of vocational education in Bangka Belitung. "Today wasn't just about listening to explanations in the hall, but also about directly observing the activities in each department, from Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Agricultural Industry, to Informatics and Business. "Please experience the learning atmosphere at Polman Babel," he said.

Somawardi explained information about campus facilities and opened an interactive question and answer session. Students were given the opportunity to ask questions about the education system.
"We'll talk about the new student admissions process, and the job opportunities for Polman Babel graduates," he concluded.
Various questions arose, ranging from tuition fees (UKT), accreditation, to the advantages of each study program. Many students were curious about the differences between the Diploma III (D3) and Diploma IV (D4) levels. Some also inquired about the possibility of opening a Mining Engineering Study Program, given the vast natural resource potential in Bangka Belitung," he added.
After the session in the hall, the activity continued with a tour of various practical laboratories in each department. The students appeared enthusiastic to witness firsthand the use of modern equipment and the activities of students engaged in practical learning," he explained.

One of the accompanying teachers from SMK Negeri 1 Sungailiat, Dwi Iska Jumiarsih, M.Pd., expressed her appreciation for the event. She believed the visit opened new insights for the students into the world of work and industry-based lectures.
"By bringing the 11th grade students, they gain a firsthand experience of the vocational and manufacturing world in Polman Babel. This is crucial for motivating them to decide on their study options after graduation," she explained.
"Furthermore, this kind of activity not only provides new experiences but also builds students' enthusiasm for learning and curiosity about engineering and technology because the Polman Babel campus provides an example of how science is applied in industrial work," Dwi hoped.
