Ready for Battle, Polman Negeri Babel Student Robots Compete in Intelligence on Line Follower Tracks
The Robotics Student Activity Unit (UKM) of the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) successfully held an Internal Robotics Competition in the Line Follower category on Friday (25/04/2025), which took place in the Salasar Gedung Kuliah Bersama (Joint Lecture Building).
The campus atmosphere was suddenly bustling with competitive spirit and the roar of robots crossing the track line at high speed.
This competition was attended by 10 teams consisting of 20 students from various levels, from the first semester to the third year. Each team brought their own assembled robots that they had prepared intensively in the last few weeks.
This event became a real test field for participants to demonstrate their technical abilities, from assembly, programming, to testing on the real track. Accuracy of navigation and strategy are the keys to success in completing the track in the fastest time.

The Supervisor of the Robotics UKM, Indra Dwisaputra, M.T., in his speech said that this internal competition was part of the development and strengthening of student skills in the field of robotics technology.
"We want students to be more confident in facing bigger competitions, both at regional and national levels," he said.
He also said that this competition is not just an ordinary competition, but also a forum for evaluation and exploration. "Some teams even try new innovations in the use of sensors and the development of navigation algorithms. This is a good first step," added Indra.
Not only about technology, this competition is also a learning space about strategy and team management. It's not just about who wins, but how they are able to develop strategies, divide roles, and solve problems in real time," he continued.
The Head of UKM Robotics, Rian Ardiansyah, welcomed the enthusiasm of the participants. He said that this event is a golden opportunity to explore students' potential in the field of robotics, especially line follower technology," he said.
Rian added that this internal competition also instills character values that are no less important. Participants learn a lot about responsibility, teamwork, and sportsmanship. These are important lessons that they will take with them wherever they go later," he said.
"In addition to spurring creativity and innovation, this competition is also a means of friendship between study programs. Participants and spectators support each other, creating a lively and enthusiastic campus atmosphere," he added.
With activities like this, UKM Robotics hopes to continue to facilitate students in developing themselves while fostering a positive competitive culture in the Polman Babel environment. Robots may stop at the finish line, but their enthusiasm will not be extinguished," he concluded.
