SUNGAILIAT-POLMANBABEL. The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Negeri Babel) has a new study program this year, namely the Applied Undergraduate Study Program of Manufacturing Design Engineering Technology (TRPM).
The opening of the study program was in line with the issuance of the Decree of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia number 155/D/OT/2022 regarding the permit to open a manufacturing engineering design study program for an applied undergraduate program at the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic in Bangka Regency.
The existence of this latest applied undergraduate program (D4) will also add to the list of options for new student admissions in 2022 from the fourth diploma education level.
Irwan, M.Sc., Ph.D as Deputy Director I for Acadetambmic Affairs said that the Manufacturing Design Engineering Technology Study Program or abbreviated as TRPM is a study program from the Mechanical Engineering Department with a concentration of Plastic Injection Molding, Press Tool, and Jig Fixture. Graduates of this study program will obtain a bachelor's degree in applied engineering or S.Tr.T.
Irwan hopes that this study program will make a superior study program in the future through the development of applied engineering science and technology.
"We opened the TRPM study program to produce competent applied engineering graduates in the field of precision tool design using the latest virtual engineering software," said Irwan during a meeting with the chairman of the TRPM Study Program in the Director's meeting room (18/07/2022).
"Every Polman Babel graduate will be equipped with technical competencies (hard skills) and soft skills competencies, as well as TRPM graduates we will equip graduates with skills in their fields," said Irwan.
In addition, Irwan said that through this latest study program, it will be able to produce applied research in the field of manufacturing design engineering that is useful in a synergistic cooperation network with industry and the community.
What will the TRPM graduates' abilities and profiles look like, Irwan added that Polmanbabel graduates in this study program have the ability in positions of precision tool designer (Tool Design Engineer), supervisor (supervisor), entrepreneur (entrepreneur) and many other positions can be occupied through this field of science.
Meanwhile, the head of New Student Admissions (PMB) Polmanbabel Somawardi, M.T explained that currently new student admissions have been opened for the Applied Undergraduate Study program (D4) Manufacturing Design Engineering Technology through an independent pathway.
"The independent path is the last path to enter Polmanbabel in 2022, for those who are interested in entering the TRPM study program, they can register on the independent path," said Somawardi.

The lecturer and as the Head of BAAKPK also explained that Polmanbabel currently has 7 study programs including D4 Manufacturing Design Engineering Technology, D4 Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, D4 Software Engineering Technology, D4 Electronic Engineering, D3 Mechanical Maintenance and Repair Engineering, D3 Mechanical Design Engineering, and D3 Electronic Engineering.
"Regarding tuition fees at Polmanbabel, prospective students do not need to worry because Polmanbabel uses a single tuition fee system or UKT, meaning that the fees are based on the financial ability of the family or parents," said Soma.
