Students from Polman Negeri Babel Strengthen Their Track Record of Achievements Through an English Grammar Competition at UBB
Students from the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) have once again achieved a proud achievement. Two Polman Babel students were named winners in the English Grammar Competition held at the University of Bangka Belitung (UBB) campus from December 3–4, 2025.
The prestigious competition was attended by 60 students from various universities, including IAN SAS, Muhammadiyah University of Bangka Belitung, Polman Babel, and UBB. Polman Babel student Prabowo Agung Pribadi won third place, while Rizka Layla Ramadhani made it to the top 14 finalists.

When contacted on Thursday (December 4, 2025), Prabowo Agung Pribadi explained that his success was the result of guidance from the English Language Student Activity Unit (UKM) advisor and consistent independent practice at home, as the English Grammar Competition was quite challenging and competitive.
Prabowo also shared his first experience participating in a grammar competition and admitted to gaining new insights, particularly regarding strategies for quickly completing questions within a limited timeframe.
"This experience opened my eyes to grammar material I hadn't previously studied," he added.

Shanty Dwi Krishnaningsih, M.Hum., advisor of the Polman Babel English Student Activity Unit (UKM), also praised winning a competition like this, saying it's excellent for improving students' grammar skills. "Grammar skills are crucial for students these days, especially in the academic world," she explained.
She further explained that grammar competitions are currently relatively rare, as most English competitions focus more on speaking skills, such as speech competitions or storytelling. Therefore, she believes this event provides a space for students to demonstrate their academic abilities in grammar.
"This competition provides a great opportunity for students to showcase their grammar skills," she said.
Shanty hopes that in the future, similar competitions will increase, at the provincial, national, and international levels, so that Polman Babel students have more opportunities to excel," she concluded.
