During the Socialization of New Study Programs, Lecturers from Polman Negeri Babel Encouraged Students of SMK Negeri 4 Pangkalpinang to Continue Their Studies
The visit of lecturers from the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) to SMK Negeri 4 Pangkalpinang was a strategic way to introduce new study programs to 12th-grade students and was part of the university's efforts to recruit prospective new students on Friday (April 17, 2026).
During the visit, the lecturers promoted several new study programs deemed relevant to current industry needs. These included Multimedia Engineering Technology, Fisheries Cultivation Technology, Plantation Crop Production Technology, and Digital Banking and Finance.
This outreach was specifically aimed at 12th-grade students preparing to continue their education to a higher level. Students were also provided with information regarding the registration process, including the independent pathway still open at Polman Babel.

One of the lecturers at Polman Babel, Dewi Tumatul Ainin, M.Sc., explained that the development of the fisheries sector has undergone a significant transformation along with the presence of modern technology. The concept of fish farming is no longer traditional, but rather is moving towards an integrated, technology-based system, ranging from water quality management, automated feeding, to digital fish growth monitoring," she said.
In the Fisheries Cultivation Technology Study Program, students are equipped not only with basic knowledge but also with practical skills tailored to industry needs. Today's fish farming is no longer conventional, but is technology-based, ranging from water quality control systems to automated feeding.
"This study program can produce graduates who are not only job-ready but also able to innovate and even create their own business opportunities in the fisheries sector," he explained.

Meanwhile, another lecturer, Better Swengky, M.Kom., explained in detail about the Multimedia Engineering Technology Study Program, explaining the importance of multimedia competencies in today's rapidly evolving digital era.
Furthermore, Better mentioned that career opportunities in multimedia are vast, ranging from working in creative companies and digital media, to becoming content creators and entrepreneurs in the digital sector. He believes today's young generation has great potential because they have been familiar with technology from an early age," he said.

This made the students' engagement evident throughout the presentation. Many students expressed interest in Polman Babel, asking a variety of questions, ranging from campus facilities to career opportunities after graduation.
The principal of SMK Negeri 4 Pangkalpinang, Firman, welcomed the visit, hoping that the new study program at Polman Babel would provide an opportunity for his students to continue their education in the areas of expertise they have learned at school.
"I am very grateful for the visit and attention from Polman Babel. Hopefully, this will be a bridge for our students to continue their education to a higher level, especially through the independent pathway, which is still open," he concluded.
Furthermore, activities like this will motivate more students to not stop at high school but to take the courage to go further to think about their future. He also recommends enrolling at the Polman Babel campus.
