Babel State Polman Receives BAST Land Grant from Central Bangka Regency Government, for Campus Development
Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) received a land grant from the Central Bangka Regency Government on Friday (13/09/2024). The handover ceremony for the handover minutes (BAST) of the land grant took place solemnly at the Central Bangka Regent's Office, attended by officials from Polman Babel and the Central Bangka Regency Government.
This land grant is a form of regional government support in developing vocational education in the Bangka Belitung region, which is expected to expand access to education for the younger generation and improve the infrastructure of the Polman Babel campus. This step is considered an effort to strengthen relations between the world of education and local government.
The Director of Polman Babel, I Made Andik Setiawan, M.Eng., Ph.D., in his speech expressed his deep gratitude for the land grant. He emphasized that this grant is an important milestone in Polman Babel's journey to continue to develop and contribute to advancing education in the Central Bangka region.
"We really appreciate the support provided by the Central Bangka Regency Government. We will make the best use of this land to develop campus facilities, which will ultimately have a positive impact on the surrounding community, especially in terms of improving the quality of education," said I Made Andik.
Furthermore, I Made explained that this additional land will be used to build new buildings that can support academic and non-academic activities, as well as developing a training center to support Polman Babel's superior vocational programs.
Apart from that, I Made Andik also hopes that the development of this campus will open up opportunities for wider collaboration between Polman Babel and industry in the Bangka Belitung region, especially in terms of industrial work practices for students and the development of applied research.
Meanwhile, the Regional Secretary of Central Bangka Regency, Drs. Sugianto, M.Sc., who represented the Regent, stated that this land grant was a form of the regional government's support for the development of education in the region. According to him, vocational education has an important role in preparing the young generation to face the challenges of the world of work.
"We hope that with this land grant, Polman Babel can continue to develop and produce quality graduates, ready to face the challenges of the industrial world, and make a real contribution to regional development," said Sugianto.
Furthermore, Sugianto added that synergy between regional governments and educational institutions such as Polman Babel is very important in creating a workforce that is skilled and ready to compete, both at the local and national levels.

During the event, the handover minutes were signed by representatives of Polman Babel and Central Bangka Regency Government, witnessed by the guests present. A friendly atmosphere characterized the handover of the land grant which is expected to bring long-term benefits to the development of vocational education in the region.
With this land grant, Polman Babel now has greater opportunities to develop various new study programs that suit the needs of the job market. It is also hoped that this will attract the interest of prospective students from various regions in Bangka Belitung and surrounding areas.
In the future, Polman Babel will continue to collaborate with various parties, including government, industry and the wider community, to ensure that every step in developing this campus can have a significant impact on improving the quality of human resources in Central Bangka.
