SUNGAILIAT_POLMANBABEL. The Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) for the many times carried out recruitment activities for its graduates or what is commonly known as Campus Hiring.
This time Polman Babel is collaborating with a company engaged in the Poultry and Feedmill Industry, namely PT. Mangosteen Chicken Farm.
The activity which took place on March 10 2023 at the Polman Babel campus was attended by 30 Polman Babel alumni according to the qualifications needed by employees, according to information previously published by PT. Mangosteen Chicken Farm requires SPV Mechanical and Electrical Assistants with educational qualifications of D3 and D4 Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Engineering.
The Director of Polman Babel, I Made Andik Setiawan, thanked the companies that were willing to come to the Polman Babel campus to recruit employees from Polman Babel alumni.
According to him, Campus Hiring shows that companies have confidence in Polman Babel graduates, they are willing to come to campus to look for competent prospective employees.
"They want to come specifically to our campus to look for potential graduates according to their qualifications, meaning they believe in the quality of Polman Babel alumni," said Made Monday, March 13, 2023.
"For alumni to take advantage of this opportunity as well as possible, this is the first step for you to pursue a career in the future," he added.
Through Campus Hiring, not only offering graduates but also being able to correct and request information related to the company's needs for existing graduates, meaning that Polman Babel can measure the extent of hard skills and soft skills of graduates.
"We can see the extent of the graduates' abilities, this can be used as input in compiling a curriculum that suits industry needs, so the first goal is to prepare graduates and secondly to distribute graduates according to industry needs through campus hiring," Made said.
Made also revealed that companies could look to Polman Babel to carry out Campus Hiring from various considerations, the first could be the ability of the graduates to suit the needs of the company, the second was the approach from the Polman Babel collaboration team or they received information and promotions from outside about Polman Babel.
The next step for Polman Babel will be to follow up and establish cooperation with the business world and the industrial world, both apprenticeship collaborations, scholarships and recruitment such as this campus hiring.
He also advised the Polman Babel alumni to take advantage of this recruitment activity because not all have this opportunity, this is a process to pursue a future career even though later there is no match for the job but at least there is experience to be passed later.
"We must be able to adapt because it is a learning process for life, we must be able to develop ourselves and continue to learn because knowledge and community needs will continue to grow," he said.
Regarding companies carrying out campus hiring, the Director of Polman Babel for the 2020-2024 period also said that he had discussed with the HRD of PT. Mangosteen Chicken Farms, they need qualified human resources in the mechanical and electrical parts that are in accordance with Babel Polman graduates.
"The company is good, they have often carried out open recruitment, they are also ready to establish a longer and closer collaboration in the future so that recruitment like this can go more smoothly," said Made.
He also added that campus hiring activities at the Polman Babel campus are one of the added values for Polman Babel alumni, the company recruits specifically to the campus to select the best graduates.
"This means that the company has confidence in the abilities of Polman Babel graduates in the world of work according to their field of knowledge," added Made.
Meanwhile, when it was confirmed to PT. Manggis Chicken Farm, Frans Kopman Sinaga as HRD Manager said the campus hiring activity went smoothly, all participants followed the selection process in an orderly manner.
The selection process took place in two stages, namely direct interview selection and written selection. However, before the selection was carried out, the company first presented its company profile.
PT. Mangosteen Chicken Farm is one of the Farm Breeding in Indonesia, headquartered in West Jakarta, this company also sells Hisex Brown laying hens, prospective employees will be placed in the West Java region.
Frans said the campus hiring activity at Polman Babel was the first recruitment activity carried out at this vocational campus, 30 participants from mechanical engineering and electrical engineering alumni attended according to the company's needs.
"There are participants who have the potential and wish to join, hopefully this is the first step for them to have a career," said Frans.
He explained PT. Mangosteen Chicken Farm as a Poultry and Feedmill industry requires personnel who handle electrical and machine parts, the production produced from this company is in the form of feed production, breeding and up to frozen chicken production.
The implementation of campus hiring will be carried out routinely in accordance with the cooperation that is established and in accordance with the needs of existing resources in the field.
"We are also open for the campus to visit companies and can also carry out internships for students," added Frans.
