The Photography and Press Student Activity Unit of Polman Negeri Babel Attends the Media Mind 2025 Socialization
The State Manufacturing Polytechnic of Bangka Belitung (Polman Babel) continues to encourage students to actively develop themselves. This was demonstrated by the participation of the Photography and Press Student Activity Unit (UKM) in the Mind 2025 Media Socialization held by PT Timah Tbk on Tuesday (August 26, 2025).

The event was attended not only by Polman Babel students but also by student representatives from several other universities and media personnel. This provided a platform to voice strategic issues, particularly related to mining. As part of the Mind Id mining holding company, PT Timah Tbk is opening a space for young people to contribute through creative, critical, and constructive journalistic work.
Ten representatives from Polman Babel's Photography and Press Student Activity Units also participated in the event. Their presence demonstrated the students' contribution to building healthy media literacy and broadening their horizons in the field of journalism.

When met on Thursday (28/08/2025), the Chair of the Polman Babel Photography and Press UKM, Hikmal Afiqah Febrian, revealed that this activity provided a new and very useful experience, was quite exciting, and provided new knowledge. "At first, I didn't know about the Media Mind Id competition, but now I understand more, including how to present news, the good and bad regarding mining issues," he said.
Hikmal added that, in addition to broadening their knowledge of the world of the press, participants were also introduced to proper reporting techniques so that students not only actively write news but also understand journalistic ethics and how to present information in a balanced manner.
Furthermore, photography was also a focus of this socialization. Hikmal emphasized that photography in the digital age is vital for supporting information delivery.
"Photography plays a crucial role now, especially with the advent of social media, where photos can quickly spread to the public, making information easier to understand," he explained.
The participation of the Polman Babel Photography and Press Student Activity Unit (UKM) in this activity is expected to encourage student development, both in terms of journalistic and photography skills, and to further develop the photography and press divisions on campus," he concluded.
