BAHARI Movement, Polman Negeri Babel Students Intensify Environmental Care Action
Students of the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) demonstrated real environmental awareness through the "Green Mangroves for Sustainable Beaches" (BAHARI) activity which was held on Thursday, May 16, 2025. This activity carries a meaningful slogan: "From planted roots, hope grows, concern is born, and change is realized."
This mangrove planting program is not just a ceremony, but part of a collective effort to protect coastal ecosystems from abrasion and the impacts of climate change. This activity involves synergy between students, lecturers, and industry parties, namely PT Timah, and the Polman Babel agricultural student organization.

The BAHARI action took place in coastal areas that have been vulnerable to environmental damage. Students appeared enthusiastic when planting mangrove seedlings one by one, while being provided with an understanding of the importance of the mangrove forest ecosystem for the sustainability of coastal life.
The Head of BEM Polman Babel, Fatur, who was met on Friday (05/17/2025), said that this activity is a concrete form of student contribution to environmental preservation.
"We believe that change can start from small steps like this. Students must have a role, not only in class, but also for nature," he said.
Fatur also said that this activity will be an ongoing agenda that involves more campus and community elements. In the future, we want there to be an adoption of the area, where students can care for and monitor the growth of the mangroves that have been planted," he added.
Polman Babel agricultural lecturers who also attended this activity also provided direct education in the field. They explained the importance of maintaining the sustainability of mangrove plants and how to plant them properly so that they grow optimally.
A representative from PT Timah, Ilham, expressed his appreciation for the students' initiative. According to him, the involvement of the younger generation in environmental issues is very important for the future. "We are proud to be able to collaborate with the campus, especially students who have high enthusiasm and concern for the environment," said Ilham.
Ilham also said that this activity is in line with PT Timah's commitment to social and environmental responsibility (TJSL). "We want programs like this to continue. We are ready to support other green activities in the coastal areas of Bangka Belitung," he explained.
This BAHARI activity not only plants trees, but also instills a spirit of togetherness between generations to protect the earth. From the mangrove roots planted today, new hopes grow for the sustainability of the coast tomorrow.
