Indonesian MP Rudianto Tjen Delivers Public Lecture to State Polytechnic of Bangka Belitung Students on Patriotism in the Digital Era
Coinciding with the commemoration of the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia's Independence, the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) hosted a visit from members of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) and held a public lecture for students at the Polman Babel Hall on Thursday (August 20, 2026).
The visit was attended by DPR RI member Ir. Rudianto Tjen and his delegation, DPD RI member Bahar Buasan, M.Sc., Bangka Belitung Islands Provincial DPRD member Imam Wahudi, S.IP., and Bangka Regency DPRD member Eri Gustian, S.H., along with other team members from the PDI Perjuangan faction. The delegation was welcomed personally by the Director of Polman Babel, I Made Andik Setiawan, Ph.D., alongside the leadership team and the academic community.
In his remarks, Polman Babel Director I Made Andik Setiawan stated that the visit by representatives from the DPR RI, DPD RI, Bangka Belitung Islands Provincial DPRD, and Bangka Regency DPRD was a tremendous honor for Polman Babel.

I Made urged the students to participate seriously in the public lecture and to pay close attention to the material and experiences shared by the speakers, noting that the insights gained from the event could serve as valuable knowledge and experience for their lives in society.
"Experience should not be limited to academic learning on campus; it must also be developed outside the campus so that students are capable of interacting with the surrounding community," he said.
Meanwhile, Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) Ir. Rudianto Tjen delivered a public lecture titled "Love for the Homeland in the Digital Era" to students at Polman Babel, encouraging the younger generation to cultivate a love for Indonesia.

Rudianto stated that loving Indonesia can be demonstrated by studying diligently, developing skills, producing meaningful work, maintaining unity, and benefiting the community.
He noted that students play a crucial role in building competence and enhancing the quality of human resources. Capabilities should not be limited to merely using technology; rather, they must be directed toward creating innovations, boosting productivity, developing businesses, and producing beneficial work.
"Students must learn to be perceptive and active. Do not be ordinary students—the type who simply join the crowd in applause," he remarked.
Furthermore, Rudianto urged students to be intelligent and responsible in their use of digital technology. In the digital era, people can both access and disseminate information rapidly, making the ability to filter information essential for the younger generation.
Consequently, he encouraged students to make a habit of verifying information sources, understanding the context, and confirming the accuracy of information before sharing it with others, as incorrect information has the potential to cause unrest, exacerbate divisions, and disrupt societal unity.
"The younger generation needs to get into the habit of checking sources, understanding context, and verifying the accuracy of information before sharing it," he emphasized.

The public lecture concluded with the presentation of tokens of appreciation from the Director of Polman Babel to DPR RI Member Ir. Rudianto Tjen and DPD RI Member Bahar Buasan, M.Sc., marking the end of a visit and lecture series held in a joyful atmosphere.
