Polman Negeri Babel Supports Development of Balai Karya Helipad through Smart Day Community Service

The spirit of collaboration and environmental awareness seemed to unite in the community service activity entitled Smart Day which was held in the Heliped Balai Karya area, Thursday (03/07/2025). Employees of the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) took part in this moment together with various elements of society and related agencies.
Not only from the campus environment, this activity was also attended by representatives from the Bangka Regency Environmental Service, Sungailiat Village, Teachers of SD Negeri 1 Pemali, PT. DAK Perkapalan, Danpos AL, Ikatan Istri Karyawan Timah, Nangnung Resident Farmers Group, KSM Resam Compost House, and Mahacita Polman Babel students.
The activity began with a clean-up and area arrangement aimed at supporting the development of the Heliped Balai Karya as an educational green space. A warm atmosphere full of mutual cooperation spirit accompanied the community service.
In addition, this moment was also filled with various symbolic assistance handovers from PT Timah Tbk. Among them are waste containers for the Bangka Regency Environmental Service, vegetable seeds for the Nangnung Resident Farmers Group, and biomass for the Indonesian Renewable Energy Society (METI).
Not to be missed, Rumah Kompos KSM Resam received fruit plant seeds, SD Negeri 1 Pemali received assistance for trash bins, and a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was also signed for planting angsana trees as a form of environmental preservation.
Deputy Director III of Polman Babel, Eko Sulistyo, M.T., expressed his appreciation for the cross-sector collaboration that was established in this activity. Smart Day is not only about cleanliness, but also about synergy in building awareness and real action for a better environment," he said.
Eko also added that the involvement of Polman Babel employees and students is a form of campus concern for the development of green and educational areas outside the academic scope.
"We want to be part of positive change, both intellectually and socially," he added.
One of Polman Babel's employees, Husman, M.T., also highlighted the importance of activities like this in building character and social responsibility.
"This is not just about cleaning, but building awareness and a sense of ownership of the surrounding environment," he said.
He hopes that activities like this can become a routine agenda, involving more parties, and inspiring the wider community so that the Balai Karya Heliped can become a useful open space, not only as a public facility but also as an environmental education center," concluded Husman.
