Babel State Polman English Language UKM, a forum for developing language skills for students
English UKM at the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) is getting more and more popular every day, you know. Since it was first formed in 2009, this UKM has succeeded in becoming the coolest place for students who want to be good at English.
Every Thursday afternoon, the Electronics Theory 1 Classroom is always very busy with campus children who want to join in this UKM activity. Last Thursday (22/08/2024), the atmosphere was even more exciting with the enthusiasm of the students who attended.
Now, UKM English is led by seven very solid administrators. This UKM's journey has been long, starting from "English Club," "UBI," "UKM BI," until finally settling on the very catchy name "UKBI". The name may change, but the spirit remains the same, to make students good at English.
The proof is that around 70 students are very active in participating in activities at this UKM. From listening, reading, speaking, writing, to interactive games, everything was answered enthusiastically. Not only are they serious about studying, there are also chill sessions like listening to English music together to hone their language skills.

What makes this UKM even cooler is that they also have super exciting annual events like "EC ROAD" and "UKBI Goes to School." These events are held to spread English knowledge to communities in need in remote areas.
UKM coach, Shanty Dwi Krishnaningsih, M.Hum., couldn't hide his pride. "I'm really proud of this UKM! They have played a big role in helping Polman Babel students improve their English skills," said Shanty with a big smile.
It didn't stop there, Shanty also gave a hint that this UKM has many exciting programs that will be held in the future.
"Hopefully with this initiative, students' English skills will be further honed, and their confidence will increase in speaking in various situations," concluded Shanty with great hope.
