Efforts Pay Off: Babel State Polytechnic Students Win 3rd Place in Men's and Women's Beach Volleyball at Porseni XV 2026
The Polman Negeri Babel Porseni team with the students who won third place in the men's and women's beach volleyball events at the 15th Porseni (2026) held at Politeknik Negeri Medan.
Students from the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) achieved sweet success at the 15th Sports and Arts Week (Porseni) in 2026, bringing home medals after securing third place in both the men's and women's beach volleyball events.
The 15th Porseni, held at the Medan State Polytechnic from July 24 to August 1, 2026, served as a prestigious inter-polytechnic competition where students from Polman Babel—Bangka Belitung's premier vocational campus—could hone their skills, foster a competitive spirit, and uphold the institution's reputation at the national level.
In the men's beach volleyball event, the third-place title was claimed by the Polman Babel student pair Sugito and Dziljian Akbar, while in the women's category, the pair of Andini and Resma Fadila also successfully secured third place.
Andini, one of the third-place winners in women's beach volleyball, expressed her gratitude for the achievement when contacted on Monday (August 3, 2026). "This was my first time participating in Porseni, and it was an incredibly valuable experience—the result of hard work, training, prayer, and support from everyone, whether near or far," she explained.
Furthermore, gratitude goes to the coaches, teammates, and everyone who provided encouragement and support throughout the preparation and the competition itself.
“Beyond that, this achievement can serve as motivation for my peers to keep growing and training—avoiding complacency—and to continue bringing honor to the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic in future events, aiming for even better results,” she explained.
Andini added that preparations prior to the competition were thorough. In addition to routine training, she and the team maintained a healthy diet and lifestyle, ensured adequate rest, and prepared all the necessary equipment for the event.
Meanwhile, Sugito, a student who won third place in the men's beach volleyball event, expressed his happiness and pride in bringing home a medal for the campus. He hopes this success will motivate other Polman students and lead to participation in a wider range of sports at future Porseni events.
Behind this success lay a long journey for the men's and women's beach volleyball teams, spanning roughly three months before departure. Their preparation included physical and technical training as well as match simulations held at various locations—such as the Polman Babel campus, the Sungailiat Protected Forest, and Tikus Emas Beach—to acclimate to beach volleyball court conditions. They also played several friendly matches against local athletes as part of their competition prep.
Eko Sulistyo, M.T., Deputy Director III of Polman Babel, acknowledged the hard work of the students who secured third place in both the men's and women's beach volleyball events, noting that this achievement serves as a stepping stone for them to improve their performance in future competitions.
“We secured third place in this event. Moving forward, we must remain optimistic and strive to win first place,” he concluded. He added that the competition itself is not the sole measure of success, as the courage to compete, the training process, the experience gained, and the effort put in are also vital components of achievement. "For those in other sports disciplines who did not secure a victory, do not be discouraged; you must keep training and give your best in the next competition," he emphasized.
